Not sure about the A3 but my understanding is antenna 1 is in the roof fin and antenna 2 is behind rear bumper bolted to the rear panel, typically on left hand side

Strange overheating issue - 3.0 Tdi A6 Avant
Sid2020 replied to memzey's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
Any reputable brand should be fine, Audi don’t make these parts themselves anyway so possible you get the exact same item but in a different box. Active grills are visible looking thru the front grilles of the car. -

Hi hi guys my went in limp mode today after resetting my transmission on my Audi a4 b8 tdi 2012 and started giving me this p029900 code but not check engine light any suggestions on what it could be. Thanks in advance Halldor

Thanks guys. Not sure if my car has active grills, is there an easy way to check? I too am leaning towards the thermostat so glad, in a way, that you agree. I’ll chat with my mechanic and take it from there. One last question on this, if I may, is there a non-oem brand for this part that is recommended or is it something that needs to be main dealer? The disparity in price between oem and aftermarket is large and one I’d like to avoid if possible.

As for the thermostat - since the temperature gauge is behaving strangely (jumps between 50 and 100, but often ‘sits’ close to 50), it really looks like the thermostat is either not closing or is hanging in the open position, causing the engine not to reach the correct operating temperature. This can also affect the cruise control - in some Audi/VW models, when the engine doesn't reach the right temperature, the cruise control doesn't activate or is turned off preemptively. I would do this : Replace the tank - a cheap attempt to eliminate the sensor. Thermostat - rather necessary, symptoms very typical. Water pump - definitely worthwhile by the way, preventively. Cruise control - may be linked to engine underheating, worth waiting to see the effect after replacing the thermostat.

Hello from Canada. Last year I purchased a 2016 TT S Line. Recently I have gotten a P2556 error code indicating coolant level sensor issue. Audi tech feels that the thermostat needs replacing, but the coolant level sensor is in the expansion tank. The temperature gauge is erratic going from 50 to 100 degrees but usually down near 50. Also just recently noticed that the cruise control does not work. I found an old thread from 2018 from another member who had identical issues and symptoms but don't know if the error code and cc issues are related. Questions, if replacing the thermostat should I do the water pump as well? car has 176K km. Cost of thermostat unit is $800Cdn and water pump another $250 and quoted 5-6 hours labor at $185/hr. Thinking of replacing the expansion tank as it appears that the coolant level sensor is not easily replaced into an existing tank. Cost of new tank is only$60 so not too much wasted if it doesn't work. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks Randy

I’ve absolutely loved having this car and it’s a great drive. I’ve recently retired and can’t use it as much as it deserves to be used. Last year I only put 3000 miles on the clock! Most of you will know that for a diesel this isn’t anywhere near enough for it to run economically. I’d love to see it go to a good owner who appreciates its worth. It’s only got coming up to 54000 miles which for a 2016 model is really good. 1 of the 3 years I’ve had it, I did a French road trip down to Bordeaux - hood down - full sunshine - empty autoroutes and the drive was amazing! So glad it’s exempt from the emissions charges as it meets ULEZ requirements. Mileage genuine and can be proved. I inherited the private plate so that can be sold as an extra benefit. The MOT is valid until Oct with no advisories. Both keys available. Log book says 5 owners but I know two of them were dealers (one of which I bought it from) so really only 3 proper users.

It was always in the mmi under car settings. Might have only Been on projector lens headlamps not sure about LED lights. It flattened the beam rather then full LHD conversion but was all that was required

Hi all I have a 2011 A4 Avant (B8/CDNC) 2.0 TFSI, I'm looking to purchase my first OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner and am completely overwhelmed with all the options available. Ideally I would prefer a cable type unit that I can do software updates via my laptop (IOS/MacBook) rather than the Bluetooth Dongle/Phone App option. Does anyone use a similar device (maybe more VAG specific) that will meet my needs and if so what type of unit is it....? I'm happy to spend up to maybe £150-200, could possibly stretch a little further, but I definitely don't want a subscription to anything. If there isn't anything available that suits then what Bluetooth Dongle/Phone App units do people use that are suitable...? Thanks in advance for any help & suggestions. Cheers, Johnny.....

I am seeing the gear selected on my instrument cluster display. When I place the vehicle in neutral and activate the e-brake then put it in gear to pull away, the brakes do release. I’ll take it to my mechanic and have them bring diagnostics. Thanks! 🙏🏾

Part exchanged with a dealer. No faults declared. I also purchased a 3 year warranty. I contacted them today and they have told me to get it assessed at a garage on Tuesday.
