There should be no significant wear after a mere 50000 miles, so the whine indicates something is amiss. I suggest you get the car assessed by an independant VAG specialist. Don't go to an Audi dealer who will either tell you the noise is normal or try to sell you a hugely expensive new transmission.

Because I have no idea what or where this will be.

I've hooked it up to a carista and nothing came up. I know it's not what a garage would use and a garage one may pick something up.

Was Richard's response of use to you Jax?

Hi thanks for the reply. It’s done 50k Miles, so quite low. I would have serviced the dsg at 40 but was advised to leave it by 2 separate Audi specialists.

Thanks for that. Yeah it’s a bind not being able to easily select it in settings - a “use car/phone Wi-fi” toggle would be handy. What I’ve done on my Android phone is to install the Macrodroid app and use a macro that automatically turns on my phone’s WiFi hotspot (and turns off its Wi-fi) when it detects it’s connected to the car’s Bluetooth, and when I get out of the car, it automatically kills the phone’s hotspot and turns Wi-fi back on. That works reasonably well although I do need to be a little patient when I get into the car to ensure that process has worked - sometimes it’ll not detect the phone’s hotspot quickly enough and use the Audi cubic data plan instead. It’ll be interesting to see how it reacts when it doesn’t have that car data plan to fall back on. Cheers

RDavies started following A6 2.0tdi ultra intermittent hesitation
-
Hi I’m new to this site but am experiencing the same issue with my wife’s Audi A6. For reference it’s a 2014 A6 avant 2.0 tdi Ultra. Davie I just wondered if you had been able to pin this down the crank or cam sensors. The situation you describe in your posts matches perfectly to what we are experiencing. If you could provide an update that would be helpful, thanks.

Hi Pete. Like you, I was keen to use my phones data plan as a connection for online services. I believe there is an option in the MyAudi App, under the services section, called vehicle connection that should allow for this. On android it's under the user icon (bottom right). Unfortunately, like many others have already reported, it doesn't work. At least not on Android. Enabling the option "MMI Wifi Connection" just shows as "not linked" and there doesn't seem to be any option to link the app with the car. I do however believe that there is a 'fix' that allows this to work on iOS devices. https://www.e-tronforum.com/threads/mmi-wifi-connection-not-linked.7646/ Until Audi sort out their buggy software, the only option is 'Hotspot' which isn't ideal.

Pic 4717 was taken after a stop for 30 mins after picking it up. Pic 4730 was taken this morning. Pretty sure I’ve got an oil leak, to back that up there is also a burnt oil smell in the cabin. Any thoughts what the problem may be? I am seriously considering taking it back for a refund.

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
-
Hi folks, Hoping someone with a lot more know-how than me may be able to help. My 74 plate A3 BE was recently recalled for an update, which I was hoping would be for the MMI. Turned out to be a more generalised update for "Interconnected systems". Since the update, I can no longer change the view on my rear camera. The icons to switch from wide angled, kerbside, view to normal view still appear on the MMI screen, however selecting them no longer has any effect, other than making the ‘click’ sound to confirm selection. I have tried performing a full factory reset to the MMI, but this has only resolved some of the many other problems I’ve had with the MMI since new. No doubt temporarily. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated before I bite the bullet and book back in with the dealer. Thanks

Fingers crossed it's the actuators

'Parking System' option greyed out in 'Car' Menu

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up as it could be a N issue with the sensor, wiring or module -
I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up as it sounds like level is fine.

Facelift bumper will fit if you fit the facelift rings, bumper and headlights.

"Sealed for life" does not mean immune to wear. How many miles has it done?
-
Well, of course, it’s up to you whether you follow the advice given or not Christer
-
Welcome Connor, Why not suspect the level ‘switch’ or its connection if you know it indicates the level is low - when it isn’t?
-
Can you tell us where yours is reading then David.
-
Agreed. Any fault with a new car shoud be referred straight back to the dealer.

fritzy started following Whine at motorway speeds.
-
I’m hearing a whine at cruising speeds (it’s not the children complaining!). It changes frequency depending on my speed, but doesn’t change if I drop down a gear, so it’s something in the final drive. Thought it might be a wheel bearing, but it doesn’t seem to be coming more from one side than the other. It’s a 1.8 tfsi with 7 speed dsg. Audi says the transmission is sealed for life so doesn’t require oil service. i recorded the noise on my iPhone, but it just sounds like wind whistling. Thoughts? Cheers Mark

Hi that looks crazy I’ve been looking around and don’t see any other makes with the problem how can the lights be watertight there is small holes all the way along on the light bar the washing excuse is ridiculous on a prestige car I personally take my cars to the same car wash I’ve used for years 3 Q7’s and 2 S5’s no problems ever . The front lights on the Q8 mist from the inside from new its actually in the manual saying this is normal but I think they have problems with the lights which is a shame on a otherwise fine car
