  4. Hi Nigel. Great news! They changed it under warranty. I have the same issue with my Q8 2018, but it's all the rear lights, and in some cases, with very heavy delamination of the internal lenses. Audio UK states all these rear units are air-tight and water-tight sealed; it seems they are in denial that they have a manufacturing defect issue. There are now so many issues being reported globally regarding the delamination of the internal light lens of the rear lighting units on different forums. This is the response I received from Audi UK. I hope your warranty doesn't expire should you experience this issue again!
  5. Thank you for your replies and suggestions. In the end a lot more persistence and a different flexible wire has sorted out the issue.
  6. Welcome Edward, but what do you want the forum to do? Regards, Gareth.
  7. Avoid the roof lining. Having had the roof lining down on my old B8 A4, I know my way around. The interior as Matt mentions is easily marked. You need a special tool for the interior grab handles, assuming you don’t break the clips or they ping off. If you do go down this route, disconnect battery at least 30 mins before attempting. There’s airbags behind A pillar and curtain airbags. The B Pillar trim is straight forward, but it’s things like rubber door seals.
  8. Just dived in and px’d my lovely A6 S-Line Avant for a low mileage 2016 Diesel Q7, 100 mile drive home, it is impressive! I’ve got a question that I will keep for a new post! Many thanks, Dave
  9. Aircon gas needs replaced/recycled every couple of years to work at its best. Over time the amount in the system reduces and loses its efficiency as it absorbs moisture. I’ve found The newer 1234yf gas used doesn’t supply the same chilling effect in cars as the older r134a but is used because a change in law as its a lot more environmentally friendly.
  10. Thanks for the additional info on roof route from both of you. I was hoping to keep the wiring as near original as possible so the floor route was my aim. Had forgotten the curtain airbag!!
  11. So my car has suffered the same fate, servo sensor from Amazon for £13, looked 100% identical to the removed one, same plastics and markings except the Audi logo had been scratched off which is quite common on aftermarket parts if there made by the same supplier Audi use. Bargain
  12. Your best to pop into a local motor factors. They don’t usually have websites that are much help as deal with trade customers over the phone mainly. I got my LUK clutch kit from Dingbro but I’m based in Scotland and mine is a diesel B9. Clutch kit for mine consisted of pressure plate, clutch plate and slave cyclinder. My dual mass fly wheel was fine and that’s after 120k. Dual mass fly wheels on these cars are off a new design so they rattle when rotated or shaken as is perfectly normal.
  13. I need a replacement boot lid for my A2 2005 aluminium body Edward
  14. Thank you. I am going to keep an eye on it and discuss it with Audi at the first service. With the drips being equal and on both sides I am guessing that it is rainwater rather than something internal. I appreciate you taking the time for considered thought
  15. I would not know if it is a recognised problem, but I would be concerned about it in your place. If the water is not coming off the road surface it must be leaking from the car. Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable will chip in.
  16. Thanks for your reply. The roads have been dry, today and yesterday. As it turned out, only a limited amount of water came out of the sills, less than 25ml, the Golf would hold close to a litre and be draining for an hour or two and you could hear it sloshing around. If it is not a known problem then I am happy to ignore it.
  17. Il post a picture to help explain what I mean about the airbag part that you shouldn’t have anything in, all wires should go above the Jesus handle fixings and secure to either the bodywork or be above the roof lining about 6inchs inwards like other manufactures do
  18. To lower the roof cloth enough to install the wiring further enough inwards as not to interfere with the curtain airbag clearance section of the roof cloth you would still need to remove B pillar trims, Jesus handles and sun visors, personally I would always rather work along the floor trims then roof trims. If you do go down the roof cloth route be very careful when applying pressure as it’s only thin cardboard with a sponge fabric glued onto it and it kinks very easily and can remain visible afterwards
  19. Not while I had the car. I may well be wrong, but I seem to remember the guy telling me that the cabling was already in the roof as it was part of the loom for the rear of the car. The installation at home only took about 1.5 hours so that well may have been the case. Tony
  20. Had you been driving on a wet road just prior to parking?
  21. Problem is with the colour marks I can't see them local company said he's got 3 or 4 options so bit stuck at the moment. Thanks for reply
  22. Thank you! Now I have to figure out why the satnav has stopped working. 😂
  23. Seen a couple of videos of rear hatch trim removal and think your comment about fingers seems realistic. My concern about the roof lining route which most aftermarket fitters seem to use is the possibility of rattles at a later date. Have you noticed any problems Anton?
  24. glad you sorted it
  25. Did you work out what it was Davie?
  26. Hi All, this is a long term issue that I have been reluctant to go to a mechanic for because I am stubborn and like fixing things myself. However, I am now starting to question whether something is an issue or not. Approximately 1 year after buying the car (2011 A6 C6 3.0 TDI manual) my wipers stopped working completely. I was quoted £500+ to have them fixed, I bought used linkage from a breaker and replaced myself, resealed the windscreen scuttle panel with 3M weather sealer (probably the start of my issues). IMG_1972.mov 2 years later which takes us to October 2024 I discover a huge amount of mush (leaves, soil, water) in and around the linkage area and ECU box on the opposite side of the engine bay. I sucked out and cleaned as best as I could, water seemed to drain normally after that. I cleaned the old 3M weather sealer from the scuttle panel to windscreen joint and applied a more flexible black silicone sealant, which when dry feels like rubber. IMG_0326.mov A month ago I clean my car (snow foam, pressure washer etc) and afterwards I lift the bonnet to dry the plastic cover at the top of the engine bay (the plastic cover that slots into the plastic scuttle panel). When doing so I notice a load of snow foam that had found its way into the crevices near the ECU box and the wiper linkage area. Not much water just foam, I use an air duster to displace the foam and dry the area. 2 weeks ago I discover water in the drivers footwell after rainfall. Yesterday I remove the wipers, scuttle panel, wiper linkage and realise that when I cleaned out the mush in October, the grommet gasket that allows the bonnet release cable and some electronic wiring passed from the engine bay to the cabin, that grommet isn’t seated properly around the grommet passing into the cabin, which is how the water got into the cabin. I seated it properly and then also put some black silicone sealant around that gasket. (By this point you’re probably thinking about investing in black silicone sealant shares with me around) Like before, I refit everything and resealed the scuttle panel with…… you guessed it…… black silicone sealant, this time though I put some in the groove, pushed the plastic panel into place and then smoothed over to create a seamless joint for water from the windscreen to pass over and into the scuttle drain. IMG_0605.mov Had a little look this morning, footwell is dry! But looks like water is still getting into the linkage and ECU area. At this point I’m wondering if that is just normal behaviour and I should just allow it to happen. Looking at the drivers side wiper drain hole in the panel, it seams to just drop the water very close to the grommet that was letting water pass into the cabin. i have attached 3 videos. 1 of the mushy leaves and soil, 1 of the foam/leaf discovery and 1 from this morning showing water that is found its way to near the linkage bushings and ECU box. If anyone has a greater understanding of this matter then I really would like to know, I’m at a crossroads between putting everything into this car to keep it going (it’s only at 92,000 miles) or selling and going for something like a newer (2016-17) A6 or A7, which would possibly have its own set of problems
