Jepor started following Cv Joint ???
-
Hi all , For the last few weeks I've noticed a clicking noise from front of car when turning left , it doesn't happen all the time, it can't be intermittent, I've checked rubber boots and all intact and nothing seem lose , to me it sounds like a CV Joint , could it be possible to have a cv joint noise intermittently and with everything intact ?? Thanks

Why? A wise man once opined to me that what man has made, man can repair.

I had the brake servo restriction fault not long ago, if the codes the same as mine it’s the pressure sensor near the brake servo! mine was intermittent would go away after turning off and engine the back on ! what other people have said is if fault stays on the ABS pump then takes over braking and that it can get damaged if driven over long distances . By the looks of it in other forums it’s common fault across all Audi’s The pressure sensor is about £94 from Audi parts . Audi changed mine under the all in warranty. Hope this helps also mine seem to throw up the fault when stop start kicked in so I would switch it off straight away after starting the engine . Pressure Sensor 5Q0906207A

I was having a nose around under the bonnet earlier and found a loose pipe (photos attached). I have no idea what it is or where it goes, it's got a braded cover and is situated near the turbo pipework. Can anybody help identifying this please? The car is running completely normally by the way. Thanks in advance, Dave

Hi i dont think my alternator be repaired as its water cooled has to be a new new one thanks Charlie
- Today
-
What is trying to be said here Charlie is that it seems (in caps) that the alternator is at fault, but I would get an independent check on this before taking action. I fully agree with what Cliff is trying to reinforce - don’t assume the battery isn’t sub standard as well - until that has also been tested. If it were mine, I would investigate the route to getting your alternator repaired if found to be faulty. Kind regards, Gareth.

Sky started following Audi A4 2008 steering rack
-
I’m wondering if anyone can offer me some help/advice because I’m so lost and stuck on what to do. 5 weeks ago I was told my Audi a4 needed a new steering rack I had no lights on the dash or anything but rack was indeed leaking the part new was available nowhere new not even Audi so I was forced to buy a second hand part. The part on the car was the original part -part number 8t2422065s. I was told that part was remade for better quality and the part number for the new part I needed was 8t2422066a so I ordered the second hand part through the new part number the part was fitted on the car and works well but the car has had traction light power steering light and abs light on since the garage it was at could not resolve this so I took it to a vw specialist today and they said their machine was saying wrong part but when I went there and gave them the part number they said no that is the correct part so they have said that more than likely the part is internally damaged? But she also said the car might just be having a wobbler?? They couldn’t answer but what if my car just doesn’t like the remake of the part I am lost as to buy another second hand part of the remake or if I try and get the original part I really am lost and have 12 days before mot is due! I’m wondering if anyone and offer me some genuine help and advice Because I’ve been so stressed. Seems that no garage can actually give me the answer to solve the issues I’m having

I am not disagreeing.
-
Pinking, or pre-ignition, is not dependant on engine speed, instead it depends on engine load hence it happens when accelerating. A fuel mixture that is too weak or a spark that is too advanced will cause pinking. Modern engines normally detect that pinking and automatically adjust the ECU output accordingly. That's not to say your engine is definitely pinking because we can not hear the sound, but it is a possibility.

Glad you got sorted. I bet the new ones open better. I know they did on my A6 when I changed them.

When the car is running, the batteries only chucking out 12.2 V that’s why I think is the alternator
-
Thanks for your reply! If it was pinking wouldn’t it be making the noise when idle and revving? cheere

If you are not concerned by the appearance and it does not let in the rain, then all's well.

68000 miles is perhaps a little earlier than expected for an alternator to expire, but not unreasonably so. Get the garage to test the battery when you change the alternator as it may have been damaged by continual discharge. However look at another recent topic on this forum regarding "brake servo restricted" for further enlightenment.

Good move Sorin. i had the same message, drove 19 miles all the while the message only stated “ contact garage”. But my car totally failed. It cost me nearly £4k. I hadn’t found this forum 😩 Don’t move another inch until you have fitted the new part. I now carry a spare in the car in case it goes again.

I spoke to a car body garage and he said it could have been caught by the wind a twisted it. Learn to live with it I think. Me being over fussy

I have a6 30l c8 that started dying on me the other day and took it to the garage and they said the battery is not charging on it said it’s the alternator. The car has only got 68000 on it. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this issue. Pls help? Could it be something else? My first error message before it died was⬇️ just sceptical changing it because there like £2000 just for part

Humming / Grinding noise when driving over 30 kmh
Hamza replied to Hamza's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
Thanks again for the fast reply, fitted the winter tires, same sound still. did go to a different mechanic and turns out a wheel bearing was damaged and also something with the gearbox, had him look closer into it, but it shouldnt be something costy as he stated that on his A6 there was that same problem. thank you for the great help and also will definitely take your advice and change the tires too. -
Humming / Grinding noise when driving over 30 kmh
cliffcoggin replied to Hamza's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
All I hear Hamza is tyre noise. I hear nothing unusual, which is a common problem when recordings are played back. You have become mentally attuned to the sound your car makes. Note that some tyres are much noisier than others, and affected more by the road surface. What happens if you refit the winter tyres and drive along the same stretch of road? Does the noise change or disappear? -
