Help identifying part please - Front Grille
Sid2020 replied to DJA-440's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Might be as we’re a trade account that we always get the part numbers when getting price’s, that way when the cars stripped down if the part number on the part is different to what’s quoted we can get updated prices, some Audi front grilles actually list all the possible part number variants on the back of them but not much help unless you know what the differences are -

Welcome Jack, Further investigation of the mount would be my first port of call. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Unfortunately Matt, It’s very rare/ does’t happen, that dealers will give you a part number if you are not actually buying the part from them. Exception might be if the part is obsolete.
-
Hello Alan, I would suggest you get the battery efficiency and alternator output checked before renewing the battery - Halfords stores should be able to do that for you. If it does need replacing, your wallet would appreciate you coming back to us before buying any battery - anywhere. Kind regards, Gareth.

That’s unlikely to be the case id have thought. All people have done is updated the radio channels again via a rescan. Everyone is on the same MMI software version, as whatever their vehicles were on before. it’s more likely the broadcasting frequency has changed. I don’t know who we would get in touch with to find out. I’d wager Audi or someone else has contacted whomever to do this. Now the chipset can decode the DAB radio broadcasts. Either that or they have regressed the changes made at the end of March.

My son (the tech wizz) reckons the MMI system will have been updated remotely. I would have though my 2016 A6 would have been before the technology? Audi offers remote firmware updates for certain models via over-the-air (OTA) technology. This means that you can update your car's software without needing to visit a dealership, according to Audi UK

So the update…. last night I eventually got round to replacing the crank sensor. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the team of designers for putting the crankshaft sensor in the most awkward place. however I got it done and will just have to wait and see if it’s a fix or not. I will keep you all informed in the coming days. top tip if anyone is going to try this at home. Don’t mess around trying to unplug the sensor. Take the bolt out (it’s held in the sensor so shouldn’t fall out) then unplug the sensor when you take it out. Fit the new sensor and then plug it in. myself and one of my mechanics both had a go at unplugging it but it’s not easy to get to. Now that I’ve done one I reckon 20 minutes would change it but it’s always easier the second time round.

Hi mate, yeah you’re spot on about the glow plugs playing a bigger part in modern engines and truth be told I haven’t checked them. Might look at them if the fault is still there, cheers for the info 👍 going to post an update in another message.

Got it started at front. The glass is still in up position so can’t it out. Thinking I may need to remove window frame if possible or smash glass out

Aircon can only work when engine is running as it’s a mechanical pump or high voltage pump if a hybrid or EV. Might be that without the engine running the heater controls let you select AC and the flaps respond as such but once the engine is started it detects a low pressure in the AC system and shuts it down to protect the pump. Diagnostic scan would show this fault. If the AC system definitely has enough gas as they do slowly lose it and still displays the fault it would point to the pressure sensor which is easy to replace

Had similar on my car with no fault codes for While, eventually got worse and thru a glow plug fault. Replaced them and now all is fine again, glow plug failures only effected vehicle starting years gone by but on the latest generation of diesels they seem to play a bigger role due to regenerations and strict emission standards

Switching the ignition off for a minute will reset the parking sensor system. I would recheck the fuses making sure there seated correctly if it was working before, check your hand book for fuse layout to steer you in the right direction to save some time

The rubbers are changeable, ease them off gently Bit by bit avoiding bending them as much as possible, other parts will need removed first in allow them to come off properly
-
I agree, it would be interesting to find out what the glitch was....

Most company’s include the coding in the cost of fitting the kit so the £300 starts to look abit better, I fitted a reverse camera to my b9 and have the equipment at my work to code it in but getting the parameters set correctly was a right pain

Thanks guys so, I removed the glove box and inspected the recirculation flap and air intake, so when I press the buttons on the aircon the flap opens and closes. And when the engine isn't running but the car is powered by the battery, the aircon works but when I start the engine the aircon turns off and isn't able to be turned on. It's booked in for a full diagnostic test next week so hopefully will know better by then. Appologises about the language in the previous post. Thanks Michael

Does it get sprayed with a chemical when the cars cleaned, the plastic chrome is sometimes razor sharp when it starts breaking up so watch your fingers but if you could pick the remaining chrome off you could get a silver/chrome vinyl wrap and apply that. I wrapped all my chrome with black vinyl as it started to go milky looking

Many thanks for the quick response and YouTube clip. Cheers

Get an independent auto electrician on the job, they will carry out pin out tests for modules and components, test wiring and carry out any programming required. If it turns out to be a mechanical failure they should be able to tell you this from the above tests
-
All on for me too very strange but hay ho let’s see what happens in a month or two
-
In a word, yes. The battery does indeed need to be coded to the car. See this for an explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJAScg6JrYI

Help identifying part please - Front Grille
Sid2020 replied to DJA-440's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
We have problems with grilles and that’s buying direct from Audi as so many variables depending on spec. I can see a front 360 camera and parking sensors so that would be represented in the part number you need, the black bezel may also change the number again. Best just phoning a dealer and ask for a quote with part number. Shouldn’t be a problem for them -
Audi Q7 2012 3.0 Diesel Coolant Temp Sensor Location
Bigdave1230 replied to Craig Plendy's topic in Audi Q7 Club
Is the car turning over and not starting when hot or not turning over at all? If it’s turning over it’s more than likely going to be the crank shaft sensor. Mine did it a few years back and is quite a known thing on the mk1
