  2. Thanks again for the fast reply, fitted the winter tires, same sound still. did go to a different mechanic and turns out a wheel bearing was damaged and also something with the gearbox, had him look closer into it, but it shouldnt be something costy as he stated that on his A6 there was that same problem. thank you for the great help and also will definitely take your advice and change the tires too.
  3. All I hear Hamza is tyre noise. I hear nothing unusual, which is a common problem when recordings are played back. You have become mentally attuned to the sound your car makes. Note that some tyres are much noisier than others, and affected more by the road surface. What happens if you refit the winter tyres and drive along the same stretch of road? Does the noise change or disappear?

  5. Any news to report Ian?
  6. Mark. I see you looked at this forum yesterday, so have you made any progress on the matter?
  7. Hello, Did you fix the problem and how? I also have a similar rattling noise when braking at low speed and starting in reverse. I am attaching a recording of the sound and I would be very grateful if you could help solve the problem. audi a6 40dti c8.mp3
  8. Thanks for the replies. I'll do some further checks and follow the advice from the responses... see where I get to. As long as I can achieve highbeams when I need them then that's my goal. Not fussed about adaptive lighting. Had it on a previous car never really used the function... thanks again.
  9. Thank you both for the valuable advice. Just ordered one from Amazon; will share my feedback after I fit it.
  10. Welcome Charlie, Alway difficult to diagnose noises without access to the vehicle, but sounds typical of pinking, where the engine labours under acceleration. Try adding a few gallons of ‘Super’ grade (non- supermarket) fuel and let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. hi all,im having a problem with the speedo in my 1995 coupe 2l 16v,i got the clocks refurbed by a reputable repairer in the hope it would solve the issue and i also fitted a new speed sensor but the speedo still wont work,it has voltage going to it,im wondering did i get a faulty sensor or does anyone know of any other fault i could check for?thanks folks
  12. 2015 Audi A3 1.4TFSI CoD When I’m going low speed and low rpm with acceleration there’s a ticking noise from engine bay. Only happens when the car is moving, does not do it when it’s idling at all even if you rev it. Only happens when you have the accelerator pedal down a bit but instantly stops soon as you let off it. Does not do it when pedal is fully depressed or atleast can’t hear anything when it’s going speed. Please someone help this noise is driving me crazy and every time I think what it could be it doesn’t add up due to the symptoms above, cheers.

  14. Hi all I’ve got a 17 plate Audi a3 1.4tfsi and my multimedia/mmi/cd changer is finished I’ve ordered one out of another 1.4 2017 Audi is it straight plug and play or will it need to be coded in? kind regards Alex
  15. Just replaced the tailgate struts on my 2012, 3 door. though they were still working ok …with the rust breaking through I think it was just a matter of time before they failed. Opening and closing the tailgate feels so much better now.
  16. No. It hasn’t developed so il play it by ear. My old mk4 golf used to do a similar thing … went on for years 🤔😂
  17. Well I managed to get the bottle off with having to take the bumper fully off, I just undid one side of bumper and managed to get my hands in to get to the screws, It was still a bit of a bugger, but could of been worse.
  18. I second, DO NOT DRIVE ANOTHER MILE! Yes, buy the sensor that’s listed in this thread and change it before you drive it again. I didn’t, and it cost me a fortune to replace & repair the subsequent damage.
  19. Hi all, apologies if I have posted this on the wrong topic I assumed it being a technical issue. I own an Audi A5 21 plate, and since last week my car satnav has been stuck on initialising. I have tried resetting the MMI a couple of times and also checked the car for updates but it is showing no updates are required. As a last resort, I reset the car back to factory reset and it is still stuck at 64% initialising. The car is 1yr post warranty and I know taking it to dealership will cost me an arm and a leg. Any advice or tips on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Below is the details I have managed to find on the car: software version: 3385.
  20. thank you KH904, is it the one advised a few messages up? is it the MAP Brake booster pressure sensor?
  21. Regarding the Brake Servo restricted warning light - if you haven't replaced the sensor, DO NOT DRIVE IT!!! The braking may feel normal, but you run the risk of triggering the ABS cycles enough times that it will brick the ABS, leaving you with a VERY BIG bill! Just buy the replacement sensor (OEM or an aftermarket) asap and fit it yourself - it's dead easy to do (1/2 minute job)!
  22. Hi all, So glad I discovered this forum. 6 weeks ago, while reversing my 2016 A6 S line, my dashboard started to light like a Christmas tree, showing the following errors/faults: - stabilisation control (ESC/ABS): fault!, see owners manual - hold assist: unavailable - main beam assist: system fault - tire pressure: system fault! - parking brake! - Audi adaptive light: system fault! - brake servo restricted. You can continue driving. Please contact workshop. Since then, I probably did a further 500 miles and the car drives as normal...or at least I didn't feel anything suspicious with it; lights work ok, it brakes ok, steering wheel is ok, parking brake holds ok. Have any of you experienced similar? Do you have any advice? Thank you.
  23. I replaced it myself and solved the issue. What I did find was a million sycamore seeds under the panel there
  24. Thought I'd loop back on this. Garage replaced the sensor, issue went away! Brake booster was a red herring.
  25. Lol looks like I've watched one of his videos before on how to fix the fuel flap sticking, another common one 😂 https://youtu.be/3204cavV4iM?si=_ccNMfSZmmE6PzNE
  26. Got you, thanks mate, thought you meant the noise was turbo related, sorry. Did anyone have a look at yours for a 2nd opinion etc?
