  2. Sorry. Audi never told me fault codes
  3. I had a towbar fitted to my ford Kuga daily by buzz towbars. They come to you to fit. Very knowledgeable and highly recommend.
  4. Hi Guys. I return to the Audi family on Friday after a 4 year absence driving a Mazda CX5, but need some guidance from more experienced owners. My car is a 2019 8V A3 Sportback S Line. I ride various bicycles which I need to transport, which was easy on the CX5; £150 for a used tourney of eBay and 2 hours to fit it and a PF Jones wiring kit. The A3 doesn’t look to be so straight forward; all the usual suppliers have big ‘not S Line’ warnings in most of their products. Has anyone got a 2017-20 S Line with a tow bar fitted? If yes, where did you get it from? TIA.
  5. Car has been fine ever since I fitted the crank sensor 👍
  6. No problem. Wanted to be sure it was a fix before I tempted fate
  7. Don't just consider it, do it.
  8. Hi gang, Long time lurker, seldom poster here. I've searched the forum and can't find a match to my case so I thought I would post the question to see if anyone can help. I have a 2015 A6 Avant, 200kw, 3.0 tdi with about 100k on the clock. Never missed a service and has always worked like a charm. I am not the first owner but have put the last 30k or so on it. It came to me with FSH (not all main dealer). Now a few weeks back I was on a relatively long and spirited drive back home from Oxfordshire when I noticed the engine was overheating (warning light on and torque limited). I pulled over and immediately upon slowing down the car started to cool down again. I checked the expansion tank and I wasn't low on coolant. As the car had cooled down again I thought I'd just drive a bit more judiciously for the remainder of my journey which worked just fine. A couple of weeks after that, I was driving to work at motorway speeds and noticed the car heating up, this time only by a couple of LEDs over 90c on the dial. Again, it cooled back down to 90c when I slowed down to about 50mph and cruised like that for a while. This seemed to be getting more frequent so I took it to my mechanic. As the car never overheats on idle and only overheats when driving at speed, he suggested it was the water pump as opposed to the thermostat. He changed the water pump for me but the problem still persists on journeys over about 25 minutes in duration. Even stranger, last night I went for a drive to confirm this, as I hadn't had a longer journey for a week or so, the engine heated up as described above. I then put the cabin heater on full blast and HI heat for a while and the temperature came down rapidly and stayed at 90c regardless of my speed. All very peculiar! Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone know of what could be causing this issue? I've spoken to an Audi specialist who thinks either the new water pump was faulty out of the box or the thermostat might actually be the problem, even though the symptoms aren't typical (if such a thing exists). I did speak to him before my experiment last night though, so he doesn't have those details. I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out so any help and guidance from those in the know here would be much appreciated! memzey
  9. Forgot to mention it’s a 1500cc petrol
  10. Thanks for belatedly letting us know.
  11. It might help us to help you if you told us more about the engine. Details like fuel, capacity, service history, are important to anybody trying to diagnose a fault. A more complete description of the problem is also essential.
  12. I doubt that reading data would be a problem; altering data would be a different matter.
  13. Diesel EGR coolers have a reputation for leaking coolant and blowing back to the reservoir.
  14. Thanks very much, I will book it in to have that job done I think. Many thanks for your help and advise. Very much appreciated.
  15. So I used my Carla OBD port reader today on my sons A1 and thought I would look to see what was on offer for the Q6. Well there is no coding available at the moments but I then thought I would try the Diagnostics to see how many errors I got. My sons 5 year old A1 got 14 errors, most were nothing and one or two were old ones so a quick clear and look back in a few days and see if any more come up to re-look. So I thought I would look at my 6 month old Q6 and WOW. It said 263 errors reported, yes you read this right 263 errors. Now I know we have had a lot of issues with our Q6 and it has been to the dealers and been looked at and had an update so I would have assumed the dealer cleared any faults, maybe not. So I have cleared the 263 faults and need to look back in 2-3 days. I wonder if anyone else has an OBD reader and can do a scan of their car.
  16. You get this, Lighting LED headlights plus including digital daytime running lights, dynamic coming and leaving home function, turning light, all-weather light, motorway light, manoeuvring light and intersection light High beam assist LED rear lights pro, including dynamic rear indicators and illuminated light strip with animated coming and leaving home function Headlight cleaning system I have mine and never seen anywhere in the app where you can change LED lighting to Matrix, I would be surprised in you could just turn them on with the app. I would expect the lighting unit to be different along with other equipment.
  17. I’m having bother with my Q3 sport back 2019, it’s been a great car and only recently showing faults. Engine management light on. Don’t rev above 4000 warning displayed on dash. Also irregular tick over, sitting about 1100 but will rev up to 1500 while sitting at lights and road junctions. ive been to local Audi garage, not main dealer. Replaced breather tube with sensors but fault still persists. Even the garage is struggling to resolve. Hoping someone else has had this issue and found a fix for it. all help appreciated Colin
  18. Thanks David, not so much a refund, but to arrange with whoever serviced the car to sort the issue out. Can we take it there wasn’t this issue with it before it was serviced? Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. You need to ensure you top up p/ recheck the oil before taking it back.
  19. Andrew:- What sort of additional information? Victoria:- when did you actually buy it, from a dealer or private sale?
  20. Under the reservoir Connor.
  21. More info please
  22. Hi mate. Turned out to be the crank sensor in my case. Pig of a thing to change, my car is the 2.0tdi ultra. if your going to change it, my top tip is unbolt the sensor with the plug still on. Fit the new sensor and then plug it in. An inspection camera helps. hope this helps, certainly cured mine.
  23. Apologies cliff it's a diesel
  24. Hi toby, sorry for the late reply, turned out to be a faulty crank sensor. Unbelievable how it never once threw a fault code. I changed it at the end of last week and it’s been fine ever since. Pig of a thing to change. Well I say that could probably do one in about 20 minutes now. Easy once you’ve done it. if your going to change yours my top tip is don’t try and unplug the sensor, remove the bolt and take the sensor out with it still plugged in. Fit the new one and then plug it in. An inspection camera helps, luckily I have one.
