I've called Audi Tyneside again today. (Lookers is the dealership, based in Glasgow). They still maintain they have heard nothing of this issue, bounced me between teams then eventually to Glasgow HQ who were similarly blank n stonewalling.... I then called Audi UK back with the case reference i had. Their latest suggestion was to try rescanning for goodness sake.... I sent them an email last night with the details they had requested when I logged the case earlier this week and I've yet to hear anything anywhere near authoritative from them. I did explain this would only get worse and more public the more people realised they had this issue, so getting ahead of it (probably too late for that) would be in their best interests. Their number is 0800 699 888 should anyone want to pile on the pressure!

I had a similar issue with stubborn oil leaks and ended up needing better access underneath to check everything properly. I grabbed a car hoist through www.astrolift.co.nz, which made the inspection way easier than crawling around with a jack and stands. Being able to safely raise the whole car really helped me spot where the oil was dripping from and clean it all up before fixing the gasket.

Hi Kenmor, thanks for that, yes I think I'm going to leave it stock, more than quick enough as it is & maintain the reliability Audi designed it with Thanks for the reply

Hi steve I had a racechip plug and play tuning box on a bmw 440i and when I changed car to my rs5 I got one almost free reprogram (p&p) I have now had it fitted for a couple of weeks now and the figures quoted are +60bhp plus lower fuel consumption but the car is so rapid that the 0.2/0.3 sec quicker to 62mph is almost impossible to tell, the one thing I can tell you is my insurance has risen £350/year, what Im saying for me personally I dont think I would bother if I had to go and buy a new one at £700+.

If anyone finds this useful, I saw this article where the reviewers is getting simular low mpgs (average 30mpg) compared to the declared 47mpg. https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/audi/audi-q7-2016-long-term-test-review/ I wonder why and how the manufacturers get away with this false information? Any one getting any different values.

Hi All I've had an online chat today as below with Global Media who operate the Heart channels which I have no reception for so its not just Bauer Media. Some of the Global Media channels operate on DAB and others on DAB+ and its the + ones that don't work on my radio It will be good to hear what Audi respond with at some point Hi, can you please tell me whether Heart dance is broadcast on DAB or DAB+ or perhaps both ? I and many other car drivers are having problems with some stations which are not being received on some Audi cars and this seems to be blamed on a change over to DAB+ Perhaps you could advise Thanks Alastair *** Holly joined the chat *** Holly Hello! You're through to Global's Customer Support Team! We are here to help you with your enquiries about Global and any of our brands which include Heart, Capital, Classic FM, LBC and many more. Holly Hi Alastair - I am just going to double check this for you I will just be a few minutes Holly Heart Dance is currently on DAB radio - full details are here https://www.heart.co.uk/radio/how-to-listen-heart-dance/ Holly can i have your full postcode to check the coverage in your area Alastair thanks, is this the same throughout the UK or do some areas rely on DAB+, my postcode is CB24 Holly some areas do differ but we can check coverage wise to see what is available Holly I am just checking your coverage for you Holly I believe from what I have just found out it is on DAB+ as well in your area - some areas have now moved over to it - https://getdigitalradio.com/whats-on-dab/ Alastair up until a week or 10 days ago its been working fine but recently something seems to have changed and thought you may be able to advise if this is the case in my area, did this change recently ? Holly I am going to feed this back though for you - if you are having problems with tuning the device in your car to get it Audi should be able to help Holly have you tried retuning the channel at all to see if this helps Holly We haven't been told of any recent changes Alastair yes I've tried re-tuning, its seems to be an issue with Audi cars of a certain age although Audi seem to suggest there is nothing wrong with cars they have tested Holly this is something we would recommend asking Audi again for as this becomes device specific for the car Alastair thanks for your help Holly you are more than welcome - I hope you have a nice weekend

So I “tweeted” @audi uk , responded saying basically it’s nothing to do with my car and it’s Bauer Media UK . They’ve since deleted their response 🤬
-
Good to hear the matter is finally resolved. In your position I would send a report of the repair to the dealer who sold you the car, and claim full recompense for the costs you have incurred. You will need to be persistent and threaten legal action to get anywhere. Whether you follow up the threats depends on how committed you are.

Hello Me too - A1, 2017, ‘that’ software version. I know practically nothing about these things. Like others, I spent time wondering what I’d done, realising I could get BBC, but, so… huh? Then googled and found this thread. Thank you. I signed up at least to stand alongside and stay abreast of this. It’s absurd. There must be, what, tens of thousands of us; what percentage of Audi’s customers has been impacted? Before even considering legalities, on reputational grounds surely they can’t just shrug. Thank you to those making representations to Audi: I look forward to hearing their response. If, down the line, folk think mass lobbying is needed, I’ll join in.

I've just been on a web chat with Audi UK customer services. They are being instructed by management to tell customers that the vehicle has no issues and it's all down to Bauer media switching from dab to dab+ I explained that our RMC H61 MMI units are supposed to be DAB+. She has no idea but has raised a ticket for me for technical to have a look at. We are being deliberately fobbed off by Audi customer services

Maybe we all need to start emailing one senior person within Audi ?
-
I said I'd get the brush off - I've replied asking for my concerns to be escalated to senior management due to the number of people affected. My car is booked in for an MOT next month so might get a scan done then if it doesn't hurt the wallet too much.
-
The point has been made that many of us DO have dab+ radio in the Audi MMI, but just it seems to be a different type - clearly I am not technical.

Wow! That is shocking! Bauer Media surely have no obligation (and probably no idea!) what vehicles do or do not have DAB+ compatible radios!!

So glad I found this forum. Thought I'd done something wrong! Exactly same issue as you guys and I've got a 2018 Q3. So frustrating I can't listen to my fave station any more 🙁

Hi, Just an update on this, having been backward and forward with the supplying dealer to no avail, I got the car booked into a local German car specialist (that helpfully is only 5 minutes walk from my new job) They did a thorough health check on the car and found the driver side top mount was worn, and also the Battery was at 24% (is the original battery and now 7 years old) - both jobs have been done and there seems to be no knocking now....

Always good to see a reply. It sounds like the ecu was repaired, a unit mounted behind heater unit on left hand side. It's good in that it's coded and the car won't run if changed fir another. They are reliable and so it would be good to know what part has failed, if ever possible. It could be just a soldered jointt. In UK specilasts generally decline to repair any unit for a 2.6 v6......
