Redpepsi31 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hi . I own a 1998 A4 b5 2.5tdi auto saloon with just 80k and fsh , most of it from an Audi main dealer. I bought the car the beginning of last year and gave the car a full service but on checking the service book and bills could find no evidence of a cambelt change. This sort of job is beyond my skills so got one of the local garages to do it as a "foreigner" . I was in no rush to get it back so it took them circa 7 months to complete the task (I understand they were very busy!) Without going into detail i quickly got the gist the job was outside their comfort zone as they would often tell me they were having issues with a b or c or a mixture of all 3. The main issue for them was sorting out the injector pump timing which they allegedly resolved in the fullness of time..... Anyway , I got the car back just before Christmas and put it on the road last week. Now I drove it very little before it went into the garage so cannot hand on heart honestly say how it accelerated and changed gear through the auto box but now it seems hesitant in gear change and yesterday a.m would hardly pull away from the kerb, however , once it picked up there were no more issues and it really does shift in the top end (40 onwards) So apologies for the preamble but are my issues related to the recent cam belt and injector pump belt changes or should i be looking elsewhere? Cheers
Magnet Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hello Brent, Sorry to hear of your problems. We can of course all be very clever in hindsight, but a 'hobble' job on any cambelt - recommended??? Moving positively on:- you need to get this car into a local trusted diesel specialist. A good source of recommendation would likely come from your friendly local taxi boys. These chaps normally know who to go to and who not. Good luck in sorting it out. Kind regards, Gareth.
