My engine oil light has come on saying the level is low. What is the best oil to use I m getting mixed information between 5w 30 and 0w30.

Is there much difference and is this normal after about 10,000 miles ?

Thanks in advance.

After abit of research online it seemed to suggest 5W 30 but called my local dealer and they said they use and recommend 0w 30.

Which is weird as its the opposite of the Audi website. When I worked in a volkswagen service department we used 5w 30.

I too would go with 5w/30 and indeed I would certainly agree with the use - and use myself- of Quantum (Longlife) as David ( Fatbloke) recommends.

If this car has covered 10k miles without topping up the oil ( on Longlife service schedule I guess) then it's certainly doing very well in terms of it's oil consumption, since I would guess it now requires just 1litre to bring it back to the full mark. (But check the handbook).

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Is it a diesel ? If so oil standard for audi is 504.00/507.00 . 5w 30 will be fine

Best brands are liquid moly and motul

Re longlife... if you want to enjoy the car and keep it longer , stick to oli and filter changes every 10k
