wazcov Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I have a mk1 TT. I drove it accross town the other day and locked it. I came back 20 mins later and it wouldn't unlock with the key fob. The drivers door won't unlock with the key because the barrel inside where you put the key just slides out. So I unlocked using the passenger door, and drove home and kept it locked with the key. I've since got replacement batteries in the fob, but the fob still won't unlock the car. I can still unlock with the key via passenger door and start the car but the alarm is constantly going off, as it is now, outside my house. How can I get the fob working? I've tried a procedure from these forums where you put it in the ingnition, to level 2 and press unlock, but that didn't work. I don't have a second key to try the drivers door option, and besides the lock is shot in there anyway. Thanks!
Steve Q Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Welcome to the forum Wayne, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Id say the fault is linked with the drivers door barrel. On some Audi's the locking system is controlled by the drivers door locking mechanism and if this fails it can cause the central locking to not work properly. I had a similar issue on my a6 where ,the drivers door locking mechanism started to fail and the car wouldn't unlock properly. I had to have an auto electrician replace the drivers door locking mechanism which cost me around £120. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve

In addition, I have my one key in the ignition to position 2, pressing unlock but it's still not working and the alarm is still going off....any ideas?
wazcov Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 Now I've managed to put a torch in the door, and the window has gone halfway down and got the torch stuck. AAgghhh. This car drives so well and is lovely but this whole door lock thing has become a much bigger issue than I intended! Anyone In Lincoln area wanna buy a TT 225 for a £800 it's theirs!

You're welcome, glad I could help :) Hmm, if the alarm was going off with no key in the ignition (so when you unlock the car) then I'd say it's down to the drivers door lock as it was on my a6. However if it's happening when the key is on the second setting then I'd argue it's a programing issue. I'm assuming you've already changed the fob batteries? Cheers Steve
