Hi All

At last just purchased my very first Audi.  Pleased so far its a 2006 model.  One small thing it doesnt seem to like white lines or wet weather.

Could be tyres but they seem to look ok. Any one else experienced this.  Apart from that lovely car:yes:

Hello Craig,

Welcome to the forum.

Can we take it that the tyre pressures have been checked against those specified - normally shown inside the fuel cap? 

If so, it would be useful to know what make/s of tyres the car is running on, if they are matching side to side in the same axle and what the approx. remaining tread is, and whether the tyre wear is even across the width of the tyres.

Welcome to the forum Craig, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) 

I agree with Gareth on this but if it's not the tyres then it could be the tracking.

welcome to the clan Craig.

Tyres are a huge part of the car... as already said check similar on same axle, check tracking; in fact in my opinion it's worth £100 or so to have a 4 wheel alignment carried out by a specialist. When done it's like driving a new car.

I did this on my MX5s & it transformed the cars driving experience. Have not needed to do the Audi yet but it's worth looking into.

Currently running on TOYO tyres, pressures all good and wearing all evenly.  I think there is about one or two mil left down to the wear bumps.  Many thanks for the reply.  Will possibly invest in a set of new tyres.

I would agree with the guys....either tyre pressures or wheel alignment

Hi Trevor,

just bought this amazing Audi A4 B5,

its a 2.8 V6 1998 only 2 previous/prescious ownerships from new,

ive noticed a little wet patch down in the passenger front foot well!

any idea where the water might be coming from buddy?

Hello Chunks ( I'm confused with two Craigs!)

As you say, it seems you are going to have to change the tyres in the near future, so it might be well worth while just living with this until you do fit a new set.

Wheel alignment?? If they were mine, I would not have the alignment fiddled with at this stage if the across- tyre wear is reasonably even. 

Some may, and do, recommend that you have the alignment checked/adjusted on this car when you have the tyre renewed. For me, I would not go down that path, since you will never know whether it was the tyres that were the issue or the alignment, so I simply do one thing at a time and then test.

Current wheel alignment equipment is state of the art, but the potential problem with using it is not the capabilities of the equipment, but sometimes the capabilities of the operator. My thinking in this is that if the tyre wear is even and the car handling is not an issue, then do not fiddle with it! 

Exception would be if you have a trusted person who you have complete confidence in using the equipment then obviously go for it, but.....

Most of us buy the brand of tyre we want from the outlet that gives us the best deal, so the capabilities of using this equipment at the tyre at that particular retailer may be an unknown, so beware.
