Martyn85 Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Hi all me again. Just wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction. Today I bought some 6x9 speakers so I thought I would go down the sub and amp route. Anybody have any idea what watt sub and app I should get? I was thinking of getting a sub with a built in amp. Attached photos of the two I’ve narrowed it down to. By the way the speakers I bought are 120W
DSECuk Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Hello mate, If I was you I’d get browsing for a RNS-E unit and all the Bose surround speakers. Really nice clean sound, works really well with the acoustics of the car, obviously if you want some rude boy bass then probably up go for smaller diameter sub. However personally I’d rather have a clear boot space without a box taking up space, plus you’re not always checked it to see if you’ve managed to loosen the cable or jump starting your car when you’ve forgot to switch off the sub. 1
Martyn85 Posted March 26, 2018 Author Posted March 26, 2018 I’ve already installed a new unit but want a bit better sound from it that’s why I’m going for a extra two speakers control by a amp but my aswell put in a small sub don’t want to go to big like you mentioned about boot space. You can get the sub to switch off with ignition if wired up properly if I remember correctly but I don’t I’ll fit it I’ll just have a audio specialist to set it all up lol!
Martyn85 Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 Right hope somebody can help with this I’m going to install myself, just one thing I checked the wiring in my unit (company put it in for me) the remote amp wire (blue) is connected, think this has something to do with getting the rear speakers to work, am I right in thinking that if I run my sub with built in amp would the rear speakers still work when I swap the blue wire running from the amp?
DSECuk Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 That blue wire is your remote switch for your amp. When you turn your ignition on, that wire goes live and triggers the amp to turn on, you need to run this down one side of the side with the 12v + & -. Run your RCA’s alone you’re not supposed to have these near any powers.
Martyn85 Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 Can I tap into the blue wire that’s plugged in at the moment or have I got to run it from the battery? Or will the rear speakers work if I just connect the blue wire from the actual amp?
DSECuk Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 If you want better sound… the loudest system I’ve ever experienced, the type that makes the eyes/cartilage in your nose vibrate just buy the following. Buy a Fiat Punto mk1 1.4 turbo (any mk1 Punto lol) 2 x Infinity 6x9’s (bolted into the parcel shelf) 1x Fusion 12” 1000w active (Velcro strips holding it to boot floor) 2x Alpine speakers in the doors 2x JVC tweeters on the dashboard. This is an insane setup… its works perfectly with the car.
DSECuk Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Yeah you'll want to goto halfords and get the same gauge blue wire, crimp that to the amp
Martyn85 Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 Anybody know the best place to run the power cable from the battery please? Got the glovebox out taken the battery out but just can’t seem to find anywhere to put the cable through
