Ahmeds3010
Hi all, This is my very first post and is in regards to my 2005 A3 8P sportback, After everything being perfect all of a sudden the key will not turn in the ignition. The key moves past the steering lock not but doesn't go into the accessory/ignition position. I've tried to slightly hit the end of the key but had no success. I've also tried to remove the ignition barrel but this requires the key to go into the ignition/ACC position and then to poke the pin in the hole. Please help! cliffcoggin
I know you say the steering lock is releasing, but have you tried wriggling the wheel each way as you turn the key to ensure it is truly disengaging?
Ahmeds3010
Yep the steering wheel and both wheels can turn completely side to side

jordbritt
This is exactly the issue I have, was this ever solved?
Magnet
Hello Jordan, Thanks for joining the forum and posting your plea. I seriously doubt we are going to get a response from the original poster after 4 years. It sounds as if you are going to need a new ignition barrel, and this will probably be best left to your local independent or trusted garage, unless you feel confident to do it yourself. Kind regards, Gareth.
