Intermittent electronic handbrake fault

Hi People,

I was wondering if somebody can help.

About two months ago I bought a used a7. It worked fine for the first two months.

Recently I keep getting these intermittent errors that say "Electronic parking brake error" "Electronic stability program fault" and "Tyre pressure monitoring fault" all at the same time.

When I switch the car off though for about 10 minutes then switch it back on again everything is  normal with no errors. Then after a couple of days it happens again.

I have had it in to the dealers and they say when there are no errors they are getting no error codes.

Can anybody she'd some light on this for me please?

Hello Sebastian,

Not saying this is going to solve your issues, but such problems can be caused/aggravated by poor battery condition. Attack the simple things first.

I notice the car is now 7 years old, so I would be starting by getting the battery checked - if only to eliminate it as a source of your problems.

Make sure you take the car on at least a 10 mile run before getting the battery condition checked. An independent auto electrician (not a battery retailer ) would be best, but if you cannot find one locally then Halfords can do this, but they do sell batteries. If you take it there, and they say it's below par, you might like to consider if you are prepared to pay a premium over the general on-line specialist battery retailers. Also worth getting the alternator output checked at the same time.

It would be good if you could let us know how you get on.

It's interesting you mentioned the battery. Last time I had it in to the garage where I bought it from for this issue, the technician did say that he couldn't get any error codes off the car as the warning lights had gone off.

However he did ask if the battery had been changed or removed as the system LG was saying that it had been. 

I will definately get it checked and then post here.

It would be worth checking what make the battery is Sebastian, to see if it's original of some replacement/ used -substituted-for-sale battery.

I had the same issue with the E brake, went into Audi, it was a faulty ECU within stere are two not 100% sure tho

How coincidental. I also have 7 year old A7 same problem. Audi suggested new battery which I had them change. Within 85 miles problem was back. Only difference from new battery is stop/start engages more regularly. So would appreciate other suggestions.

Hi,

I had an issue with warning lights, the dash showing loads, ABS, hand break etc. I traced it to the front right brake wear and ABS cable. 
It had separate at the point it attaches to the suspension, I tie wrapped it to itself( you’ll know what I mean when you look at it) and had no more issues.
