aidacuk Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Hi, I've just had the EGR valve replaced on my 2012 A3 2.0 TDI Sportback at a local garage, and they've said that the engine light can still come on for a while until the ECU gets used to the new part. Is this right? Seems strange to me. They've already cleared the light once since the valve was replaced, but the light came on the next time I started the engine and hasn't gone off since. They've told me to go back in a few days time to have it cleared again. Has anyone else had this issue or are they having me on and could it be that they've caused another issue after replacing the valve? Thanks.
niedzial1983 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 What is the fault code when they plug in to vcds ?
aidacuk Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 Originally it was the EGR fault code, now that it's been replaced it's something like heating circuit sensor bank 1.
Steve Q Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Welcome to the forum Aidan, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 i worked in a volkswagen service department and saw egr valves/egr cooler changed quite a few times and can say non of the cars ever left with an EML light on after having the work carried out. cheers Steve
James horse Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Hi I have a a5 2.7tdi and just had the egr valve replaced and eml back on within 2 days, did you get any answer to why yours came back on?
aidacuk Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 It was the lambda sensor. After having that done too the light didn't come back on.
