Hi I have not been on the forum for a while I recently bought a 2.0 TDI  Avant Quattro 2011 my 8th Audi and 4th A4  from a very well known dealer with 67000 on the clock. I had the car for 5 weeks had not even done 700 miles when the car lost power on the way home after work.

It has been with the dealer for two weeks now and they are saying the car requires a new engine. The  car is still under the warranty from the dealer, they have said that they would fit an exchange engine to the car, I am worried that this is not the best option and that the engine may be just an old second hand engine can anyone advise where I stand here, any help would be appreciated.

Hi George, what has the dealer said is exactly wrong with the engine?

What fault codes came up etc. And was it a main dealer or a private garage?

Cheers

Hi Steve

Thanks for this the dealer has just said that there could be several reasons for this failure, the car was purchased from a well known dealer but wen in to a VAG dealer to be diagnosed and head removed. I do not have any codes from them however I have the codes that the AA found when the car broke down they are below.

We have recovered your vehicle. Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control 1 - VE2 / Diesel EDC 17CP14 UDS Status :P008800 - Fuel pressure, rail. Error Message : Pressure too high. Sporadic fault. Status :P106500 - Fuel pressure regulation. Error Message : Control difference. Static fault. Status :P030100 - Combustion failure cylinder 1 detected. Error Message : . Static fault. engine is misfiring.

Thanks Again

If they are insistant on fitting a second hand engine make sure that they have service history to back.up the engine.

I'd keep trying for a new engine but it will.be a long shot!
