Peter graham Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 hi hope someone can advise me about my 2014 a3 sportback, my air con is blowing warm air constantly, I’ve been told it’s an A-T valve on the air con unit and the cost is £478 +vat for Audi to replace said valve ! Am no longer under warranty as it ran out in may 2018 but we have mentioned it to Audi when they serviced it in February also they were told in December we thought there was a problem with it , they said on checking it they couldn’t find any problem and as it was winter we didn’t need it anyway ,but come summer the problem reared up again and now it’s been found to be faulty ! 1 is the repair bill fairly priced 2 should we have to pay even out of warranty if we’ve told them in past . Your advice would be appreciated many thanks pete
WPAWS Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 my suggestion would be since your out of warranty would be to find a local garage who can do air con work i`m sure the price will drop rapidly Audi have silly labour fees of around the £100 an hour plus
Fatbloke Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Don't know if you have kwikfit in your area but they will connect the Aircon to a machine that removes the old refrigerant and lubricants, does a vacuum test for leaks and refills the refrigerant and lubricant. If is still doesn't work they don't charge you. If you are sure it's this specific valve, where is that? Is it on the compressor pump? I got a brand new aircon pump for the VRS for £156 off eBay, fitted it myself and kwikfit recharged the system for £50. Aircon is running great. I would find out more about this valve. See if you can get a reasonably priced replacement and check out if you can fit it yourself or get an indy specialist or Aircon company to do it.
