YAS19 Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Hi all Another day another question I have a 2.7tdi audi and realising it's very thirsty just about get 380 miles from a full tank if I'm lucky! I am really considering race chip tuning box or remapping for the purpose of fuel consumption to be better. Has anyone had either done and notice a difference in fuel saving is it worth it as it cost £400-£500 do you actually see a big difference? Any help or experience would help Much appreciated for your response as usual Thank you
Steve Q Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Hi Yasin, You'd be better with a remap rather than a chip. The remap can be made to be tailored to your car whereas the chip can't. The remap will give you more power and torque and potentially better mpg but it all depends whether youll get the initial outlay back in fuel. This will depend on how long you intend to keep the car for. Also you'll have to notify your insurance company that it's been remapped which may increase your insurance. They may ask you for another £50-£100 which is cost you'll have to factor into the remap/fuel cost dilema. If you don't tell your insurers it's been remapped, then you'll void your insurance. Cheers Steve
YAS19 Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Hi Steve Once again at my help! Thank you for your answer! I just want it for fuel consumption as I feel the car powerful enough as it is.. any recommendations as to who to look into for map?
DAN@ADRIAN FLUX Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Hi, If you need any help with insurance for a re-map then please feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Dan.
YAS19 Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 Hi Dan What are we looking at on top of paying normal insurance for a remap insurance ?
DAN@ADRIAN FLUX Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Hi there, It's a very broad question to answer - we have a number of modified schemes with insurers and in conjunction with other modifications may well be cheaper than a standard car. Although if you are with a non-specialist insurer and the BHP increases there may well be an increase in the premium depending on how much the increase is. Hope that this helps. Dan
YAS19 Posted August 6, 2018 Author Posted August 6, 2018 Hi Dan Is there a way I can contact you to go into more detail and get some quotes
DAN@ADRIAN FLUX Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Hi again, Yes that's fine - best thing to do is ring our general clubline - 0800 916 1288 - and our quotes staff will talk you through the rest. Thanks, Dan
Badgerman Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Good that you are speaking to an insurer already - I remapped our 1.9 A4 as it was unbelievably lethargic, but then found most insurers wouldn’t touch us. Ended up paying a high premium at a specialist - not Dan’s employer - so there are hidden costs potentially. Well done doing your homework first!
niedzial1983 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Dont expect massive improvments. 1-2 mpg in reality . It all depends on the driving style and coditions. I have 3.0tdi quattro and it does around 25mpg city and around 40mpg motorway. Winter its a bit worse, my jurney to work is not long enough for the engine to get up to temperature so mpg is less ...
YAS19 Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 Thanks all for the responses. I currently fill up every 2 weeks (roughly) it gives me 350-370 miles for a full tank that cost £80
niedzial1983 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 What are the daily rutine jurneys you do ? How many miles ? City ? Motorway ? Traffic ? Etc ...
YAS19 Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 Daily routine would be to work and back take with about 35 40 mins with traffic it's roughly15 miles both ways other then that city dicing weekend shopping ect not been motoway much with the car but I am due to do a long journey next week
niedzial1983 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 7.5mile one way the car gets bearly up to temperature when it beguins to run at a proper mpg.... so yep that is all you gonna get 🙂
