Critical_mass Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Hi guys, Im hoping you can shine some light on what maybe the issue. Bought my A6 2.7 and ran it for a couple of weeks. But then change the oil and filter on it using quantuam 5w30 507.00. Since then ive got a ticking noise from the right bank. Sounds a quite light ticking. It appears louder from the centre of the cam cover - possibly injector?? You can notice at idle and speed increases with rev. Until about 2000rpm which is when it appears to disappear (or drowned out) Just strange i didnt notice this before the oil change, cant see how an oil change would affect the injector. Thanks in advance! Gareth
niedzial1983 Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Common fault are injector washers. They tick when worn . Fairly cheap to fix.
Critical_mass Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 That's reassuring. Any special tools required to change them?
Critical_mass Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 Took the injector readings today and they are as follows 0.99, - 0.33, -0.38 -0.24, -0.42, 0.38
niedzial1983 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 norm in + - 2.99 , but the 0.99 seem abit high comparing to the rest the worn seals wont show on vcsd
Critical_mass Posted August 6, 2018 Author Posted August 6, 2018 Yeah I realise the seals wont show, but I was thinking maybe the ticking is one of the injectors. Maybe the one showing as +0.99. Which is what cylinder number? Drivers bank passenger bank 1 2 3 4 5 6
