ChrisL450 Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Hi, It's November and I'm on the hunt for recommendations for winter tyres for a 2017 272ps Audi A6 Allroad on 255/45 R19 Wheels. My driving is on a mix of country roads and faster A roads in Scotland. I'm looking for a good all-rounder - needs to be good in the wet especially up here! Any advice appreciated. I'm not planning to buy new rims and go down a size or two, but would be interested in hearing from anyone who has done that.
Neil Dickinsin Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 I use http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/ you can choose price, size etc.
56Doc Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 I had a 2004 allroad running 18” wheels so bought a cheap set of 17” twin spokes for winter tyres (17s are a LOT cheaper) and used continental winter contact, saves on having to swap tyres and rebalance too. Pretty much unstoppable! Do miss that car! i generally use mytyres.co.uk to compare the specs of different tyres. think I’d defo go for smaller rims than 19” though. Not even sure you can get 45 profile winter tyres at 19”. Hmm. Hope this helps Dave
ChrisL450 Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 Thnaks for the advice, and the useful website link. Clearly the Germans take winter tyres a bit more seriously than we do!
56Doc Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 It’s compulsory over there I think. Oct to March.
