Barry Forster
Hi, Barry Forster here - a Newbie. My first Audi A4 Avant 2011 TDi. and I need a bit of advice please Guys. I have fitted my iPhone SE in a cradle with a charging connection for a lightning connector and a 3.5mm stereo jack. The 3.5mm stereo jack is connected to the Aux socket in the centre console and the Lightning connector is connected to the socket in the same console via a USB. This socket is live only when the ignition is on and my question is: How can I make the socket permanently live, so my phone charges without the need for the ignition to be on? Is it possible to identify the appropriate fuse and somehow convert it to be permanently live? Thanks Guys,
niedzial1983
I dont think you should. The power cut prevents flat battery I think the cigarette lighter socket is still live after ignition off
Barry Forster
hi Piotr, thank you for your reply. I understand why the socket cuts off with the ignition, but I only want it to charge my iPhone without ignition. The lighter socket in the ash tray cannot conceal the USB plug, and I would rather have it all concealed.
simon chandler
My 2010 A6 Avant Le Mans had a really handy feature: the boot 12v cigar socket remained powered even with ignition off and doors locked (I believe the ECU would monitor battery drain in this instance). Pretty sure it was standard. Interestingly, my C7 A6 doesn't have this feature. Check your boot socket if the A4 Avant is fitted with one.
