masontheodore42 Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Hi, I have a question about the convertible top on my 2008 TTS. i know i am able to operate the convertible top whilst driving at low speeds, now my question is - up to what speed are you still able to operate the hood whilst moving. Also, does the convertible top have an interlock feature whereby it will stop you operating the top if you are above said speed. i have not been able to find any information on this in my owners manual for the car, nor online anywhere. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
TTx2 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 I have a 2010 Tfsi with the same roof , 31 mph is always the quoted speed I believe. The fastest speed ever operated on my own was ~ 15 mph and seemed very stable to do so, but personally would not ever try to do the same operation at anywhere approaching 30mph
Clank Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 The guidance says you can operate the roof at speeds below 30mph but I have heard that it is best to avoid operating it while moving at any speed (or while the car is not on a flat and level surface). There are about 8 sensors controlling the closing/opening cycle and if these detect any distortion, the roof will stop working. This has just happened to me and I am now facing a large garage bill.
