Bad MPG 2005 A6 TFSI

Hi, just bought this car - am loving it every time I get behind the wheel.... except when I look at the fuel gauge which drops at an alarming rate...

Last tank was circa 240 miles, with ECU reckoning it was good for 360. I think fuel economy around town is 17-18 mpg and on a short run at around 50mph up to 26mpg, and I was expecting better when I bought the car.

PCV valve has been replaced

Thermostat and sender has been replaced

Mileage is low at 60k, full service history, accelerates well with no stuttering, no issues or search at idle, so dont think issues with compression or coking, although stand to be corrected

I am on the verge of going out to buy VCDS to check Lambda Sensors in case engine is running rich... Should I, or are these mpg figures actually to be expected?

Any help appreciated!!!
