LindaMc Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 (edited) Help please? Hi all. My car has been on the drive for 3 months due to lockdown. I have been washing it. I got in it today to move it and when I turned the wheel it has a crunching sound towards the left wheel I thought it was a stone caught in the wheel but it continued when I drove up and down the street. I found online it could be peer steering but mine is electro mechanical so it seems this does not have fluid. Then it could be something with a ball bearing on the steering column?? I fear I will have to take it to the garage. It was fine before but maybe 3 months stood still has caused something to break. Would be good to get your thoughts and if I will be safe driving to the garage. Huge thanks. Linda To Edited May 31, 2020 by LindaMc
cliffcoggin Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Linda. Please tell some more about the noise. [1] Does it happen when turning the steering wheel while the car is stationary, or only when in motion? [2] Does it happen when turning to one particular side or another? [3] Does it get worse when braking? [4] Can you feel any vibration at the steering wheel when the noise occurs? 1
