Akim Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 Hello everyone I'm new to all this forums thing and thought I would give it a go. Hope you are all well with these unusual situations. Now down to business I'm a kia ceed(2007) 1.4P owner and very happy with it but decided to look into buying an Audi A3 or A4 (2010-2013)and wanted to read your opinions on them. The engines of topic is 1.2-2.0 Tfsi engines. Which is more reliable? Which has better fuel consumption? What things should I be looking at when viewing them any common issues? I read that oil consumption on some of these engines are high. Anyone able to give me a hand and clear some of these things. I'm mainly interested in reliability and to reduce maintenance costs and which model is better. Thanks Akim Kuzmichev
Magnet Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Hello Akim, Welcome to the forum. Buying a 7 to 10 year old car is always going to be a risky business, and you are right in seeking advice, and I’m sure others on here will offer you that. Some will say full service history is a must-have, and that opinion is generally worthy of consideration, but it’s no guarantee of ongoing serviceability, or that the car has been well cared for between its half day service visits to a dealer. Again, oil consumption is a known issue with some engines, and hopefully others on here will be specific on which ones. This can be a serious consideration, since it might not be apparent on inspecting/ testing. While we wait for more comprehensive opinion, please allow me to pass on comments from a long time acquaintance who has been selling ‘bread and butter’ end secondhand cars since the days when I had hair! ‘If I could always select the makes of secondhand cars I have to sell, Kia and Hyundai would be the top of my list. In comparison, they cause me very little problems’. So parting with a Kia?? Good luck and kind regards, Gareth,
Akim Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 Cheers magnet, I do came to realise that service history with audis is vital since the upkeep or maintenance can be costly. I am comparing with a kia which are the opposite when it come to repairing and maintaining. Again investing into an audi seems good as the cars are very demanding and uphold there price. Which would be an asset to myself. I live in Ireland and with new taxes this year it is too expensive to bring over diesel cars. I'm seeking extra power in my new vehicle and by the looks of it and reading these helpful forums I've decided that the 1.2 tfsi and 1.4tfsi 2011 A3s seem to have the least complaints. I have an eye on one with 53000 miles. Thanks Akim Kuzmichev
