MICKTHEMAC Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Hi all Can anyone help, On two occasions now both of my 2016 A4 key fobs stopped working leaving me stranded, any ideas, Thanks.
Magnet Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Hello Michael, Probably a silly question to ask, but you have renewed the fob batteries in recent times? Also ‘stranded’? Does the car have key opening locks? Kind regards, Gareth.
Steve Q Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 If the key fob has a conventional key attached somewhere you might find the key slot is hidden on the drivers door handle behind a cap. If you've got aa or similar recovery it might be worth giving them a call.
MICKTHEMAC Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 Their is a key inside the fob but when you use the key the alarm activates. You can't start the car as it's push button start. It works the next day so i don't think its the batterys.
Steve Q Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Is it happening with both keys or just one? If it's both abd you've changed the batteries then there could be an issue with the imobiliser etc and it might be worth getting a diagnostic check carried out. Cheers Steve
Magnet Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Michael indicates, but not confirms, that he hasn’t yet changed the batteries. That would be my first obvious course of action to eliminate this possible connection.

Cheers Steve Thanks Steve I was thinking a diagnostic check.

Magnet Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I’m still left wondering if the fob battery has been changed or not!
MICKTHEMAC Posted August 6, 2020 Author Posted August 6, 2020 (edited) I changed one of the batteries after I managed to get the car started the next day, so fingers crossed. Edited August 6, 2020 by MICKTHEMAC Missed out a word
Magnet Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 No need for diagnostic then Michael. Hope you didn’t use a Poundland type battery! Kind regards, Gareth.

Nicki Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Hi so did your issue resolve? My battery is flat so wondering if car has immobilised itself?
Nicki Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I’ve got power to car from next source to starter motor under car but still fobs and manual blades don’t work. Batteries in fob changed
Steve Q Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 If you're still locked out then you might need to get the AA to get into it.
MICKTHEMAC Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Got car started the next day and it's been ok fingers crossed.
