somak20 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Hi All, I am new to the forum and I need your advice. I bought 5 weeks ago an A4 Avant B9 2.0TDi 150 16reg - Love it. That has replaced my 520d G30 190bhp 67reg and very quickly I felt the downsize in performance. I am thinking either the tuning box or remapping option. Both cases they seem to be touching the 190bhp and more torque. Remapping has the pros of being more customised and getting done directly to the ECU but the tuning box doesn’t leave any traces. The car has 2 years warranty is on PCP and my worry is that the remap can be traced in case of an expensive claim. Insurance seem to go up by £100 for the year with LV. I am doing roughly 23k miles per year. What’s your thoughts? Has anyone done anything similar to those engines and what’s the preferred method? And do you know of the remap will leave traces? Thanks in advance!!
Steve Q Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Don't get a tuning box. People have been known to report issues once they're removed. A remap is a more sensible option even if it is more expensive.
Dustydes Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Just had mine mapped to 300 from 252 on rolling road cost about same as box but done properly took approx 2hrs. http://www.performanceremap.co.uk/
