NoggyMatt Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Hi all I am just starting my smyth ute build and thought I would put a build diary up. Car is: 2004 Audi S4 B6 in silver, 90,000 miles, it like all cars this age it needs some loving 🤗. So yesterday I started to strip the rear ready for the cuts, Rear seats out, all rear trim, lights and curtain airbag' s, also labelling all wires and connectors, here is a few pictures.
NoggyMatt Posted August 25, 2020 Author Posted August 25, 2020 Bumper is off and the tubing/hose goes into the rear bumper from the blue vaccum cylinder and tees off into 2 lines, then just ends and hangs loosely at the bottom of the bumper and someone has capped them off with 2 screws ( see pictures ). Am I right in thinking that these lines went to the old oem exhaust to control the flappers????
NoggyMatt Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 Got the doors off, Boot/trunk off, car is completely stripped in the rear now and every single wire, connector all labled, And got all the measurements marked out ready for my fresh eyes to double check it all again tomorrow, measure twice, cut once as my old grandad used to say. And I got the call from shipping agent to say my kit is ready to collect tomorrow morning from 8am. So a very productive day.
NoggyMatt Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 New wheels for the S4 Ute, I wanted something not to far from oem style, just need a good refurbishment now.
NoggyMatt Posted August 27, 2020 Author Posted August 27, 2020 Just loaded, now for the nice drive home.
Steve Frost Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Hi Matt, Wheels look a good choice. They will suit the Ute.

NoggyMatt Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 I TOLD YOU TO ONLY BLOW THE !Removed! DOORS OFF!! No that's the roof rough cuts done and roof section off.
NoggyMatt Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 Just now, Steve Q said: No going back now! No, I don't think duct tape and glue will do for this job🤣
Steve Frost Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Not sure what happened to my last comment. Anyway, that looked like a large box. Was that flown in? Regarding the black door handles, no luck yet.
NoggyMatt Posted August 30, 2020 Author Posted August 30, 2020 No came by boat, and when unloading the amount of people asking if there was a body in it lol, have you put a ad in the wanted section on here?, MIT have some luck, or is there no way of getting them painted?, mite be cheaper than buying and fitting new handles.
NoggyMatt Posted August 30, 2020 Author Posted August 30, 2020 So yesterday was just a tidying up and getting ready for the final cuts, checked all the measurements probably 10 times 🤓🤪. Today it took an hour as a raven decided to perch it's self on the Audi roof and would not shift, I got all the final cuts done and sanded back to the line and hovered all the metal filings up with a paint brush and hover to cut the risk of rusting later down the road. It needs some rust preventative over it and a bit of paint.
Steve Frost Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Probably a crow unless you've moved to Wales.

Everyone was adamant it was a raven we had about 10 people stop and take pictures, phoning wildlife trust, rspca, and it seemed very domesticated towards men that went up to it, they think it's got out from somewhere maybe?
NoggyMatt Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 Trial fitment of the front wall and bed sides today.
Steve Frost Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 That looks great already, I can't wait to see it. As it's a US kit is there a gun rack!! Seriously that looks really good.
NoggyMatt Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 B pillar loosely fitted with a few rivets, and test fitted the front wall, front tray, and bed sides, I had to make a few tweeks to the bolt holes so the bed sides sat flush front and back and also followed the lines over the inner wheel arches, i have a few gaps in places as shown in the pictures. Apart from them it all sit nicely.
NoggyMatt Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 A quick update, I have not done much over the past week as back at work🤪, still in the test fit stage but going wel, ( with the help from the UTE guru's on here. Thank you all again. ) All my tailgate gaps are equal. (Very surprised), It all straightened it's self up once I put the long wooden spacer in at the top of the tailgate, door gaps are near on equal with just minor adjustments needed. This morning I have been cutting and messaging the rear window surround in place, it is now sitting under the door rubbers and lined up with the fold impression line on the top wall. I'm just not to sure about the bottom corner that sits on the rear grander panels, it won't sit flush, I have sanded a bit but do not want to go to far.
Steve Q Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Wow, it's taking shape! Will look ace once completed 👍 1
