Hi,

I recently brought an Audi A4, Petrol, Automatic, Cabriolet, 2005.

I have been struggling to clear an intermittent ABS fault. When the fault is active I have scanned the car and the fault was the left front wheel speed sensor. I replaced this and the fault is now less frequent but it still happens. I waited until the fault was active again and rescanned the car and the same fault the result. I can reset the fault by turning off/on the ignition

Does anyone have any idea what to do next?

Cheers

As you've had the sensor replaced. I'm wondering if it's the wiring that's come loose?

Hello Steve C,

Not sure about the set up on the front, but the rear (ABS) is often signalled by a weak magnet built into the hub, and it is this rather than the sensor itself which can be at fault. Similar set up with speed sensor?

Kind regards,

Gareth.

All wheels Kev? Very often, ABS rings as such are not used.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

But surely, good diagnostic equipment will detect which is the offending wheel, and save you removing all (in caps) the sensors - with a high risk of breakage.
