Pauls898
I'm getting randomly Three Warning Lights come on together, Stability, TPMS and Steering Angle with a loud BEEP! I've tried to scan the system I did find a few code stored? An Engine one U111300 but can't find and info on this one? A Steering Angle one 00778 and a second one for a steering sensor 03110 The thing is I don't know what to do next? Not taking it to Audi for a huge BILL! Anyone know where I should start looking? Thanks
Magnet
Hello Paul With any spurious warning light issues, it’s always worth having the battery efficiency checked as the first port of call. Often a zero cost assessment. Kind regards, Gareth.
Pauls898
Thanks Gareth I replaced the battery about a year ago myself, I remember then I got a lot of warning lights come on once I had replaced it, as I was trying to start it with a dead battery and then all the dash lights were coming and going? I had quite a lot of codes to clear then, I think most modules had one! lol However I never bothered to "Code" in it's serial number and make, but because I had replaced it with an exact match for cranking amps and capacity ie I think it was a 110AH model from halfords but at half the price to what Audi wanted to charge me! I know due to covid 19 circumstances at the moment the car hasn't been driven much on long journeys but it still starts on the 1st turn of key so the battery seems to be still strong? I might stick on my maintenance charger on it for 24 hours to see if that's makes any difference and also check the tightness of the terminal bolts. I was going to check the steering angle live data too, because a short while ago I had to remove the steering wheel, air bag and the clock spring to sort out a repair on my wiper stork as that was intermittent? I never moved anything and the battery was then disconnected. Everything went back on as it was removed. Thanks for the heads up on that one. Magnet
Hello Paul, Many thanks for coming back with the helpful additional information. I would think it’s fair to assume that your current issues are not battery associated, but personally, I would not totally discount this possibility until proved to be fact. It could be me, but I am not a fan of Halford batteries ( having had past issues), and although they can be cheaper than main dealer batteries, they are seldom competitive with on-line battery supply specialists who often list premium brands such as Vatra/Bosch much cheaper than Halfords own branded ones. For me, experience has led me not to pay a premium for their batteries, and that when bought (some years ago) I experienced issues with the. If this were mine, I would be getting this battery’s efficiency checked - to confirm your current warning light issue is not associated with this - ? Interesting you mention that the battery turns the engine over adequately, but it may be of interest to hear that a family member’s non-Audi did exactly that, yet when checked ( on specialist equipment in this case) it was found not to satisfy the cold cranking current parameters set by the fitted battery monitoring system, with consequences of some systems shutting down. Kind regards, Gareth.
Pauls898
On a Quick drive to Morrisons this morning and as soon as I turned the steering wheel say over and above one turn ie turning into a parking space these group of warning lights come on with a Beep! So one's assume it must be something to do with the steering angle sensor? Going to see if I can read the live data coming from it with my scan tool and if it's incorrect see if I can reset something?

Magnet
Hello Paul, I look at it like this, if you had an issue/s with the coolant system, then the first check you would carry out would be to check the coolant level - a simply test which will eliminate or confirm any association. Similar with multiple warning lights. You are assuming the battery and charging systems are serviceable because you renewed the battery about a year ago ( similar to claiming the coolant level is OK because you checked that a year ago). Batteries take a hammering with modern cars, so it’s always worth checking its efficiency before embarking on any other form of diagnostic assessment. Your call obviously Paul, and if you would like to progress this on your assumption that the fault is with the steering angle sensor then you enter int a ‘2 assumption’ situation - (1) the battery is serviceable and (2) the steering angle sensor is the offender. Of course, it may well be the offender, and the battery may be serviceable, but by my logic has always been to check and eliminate the simple things first, and this has stood me in good stead for many years, and the word ‘assume’ has sometimes proved to do what they say is it’s interpretation - ‘makes an !Removed! of u and me!’ Kind regards, Gareth. Pauls898
Well I cleared ALL the codes and went for a test drive, but before I did I carried out the procedure to set the wheel sensor reset by turning steering fully lock both ways twice and drove a short distance in a straight line and stopped the engine? On my return after getting no beeps or warning light I rescanned and I just got four codes, two I can explain because clearly the fuel cap doesn't lock for some reason Central Locking 46 02615 Fuel Tank Cap Lock 02616 Fuel tank Cap Unlock What does worry me is these two codes which I've had for a while Wheel Damping Electronics 14 01769 Leveling sensor Front Right G289 03262 Comfort Restrictor These I need to look into in more detail? and too see whether I get these steering related codes come back on again? Pauls898
An update, checked Battery terminal voltage was 12.4 Volts but it's Magic Eye was Black, instead of green so it does indeed need charging so will leave on charge over night. On the point about correctly coding in this new battery, it doesn't have a BEM Code so can I just use its serial number, its a YUASA HSB020 UN2794 110AH 900 cold cranking amps with a 5 Year Warranty and now 1 year old. The Car has only been driven short journeys since March 😞 That's probably why the battery has run down and I'm getting these errors? Going back to the leveli9ng sensor is Front RIGHT mean the drivers side? or is it Right when looking from the front of the car which would mean the Passenger side? Thanks Paul
Pauls898
Well I have now managed to change the serial number for the replacement battery so hopefully this will reset the charging circuits and treat this replacement battery as a new one. So it's charging now so will be fully charged by the morning and we shall see if I still get any of these steering related errors come up again, I know about this leveling switch and the fuel locking cap errors I can sort those out later, I'll report back tomorrow after I've had another drive in it 🙂
Magnet
Thanks Paul, It sounds as if I’m talking into thin air about getting the battery checked, so apologies for boring you with the content of my posts. Kind regards, Gareth.
Pauls898
No not at all, I have found out it is indeed low on charge so I am charging it up as we speak to see if that makes any difference, and I have also changed the battery parameters too in the ECU so hopefully the car will now treat it as a new battery 🙂 I could get Halfords to check it there are more codes come up again then if there is indeed a problem with the battery they can supply me with a replacement one as it's still got 4 years warantry remaining on it. Many Thanks Paul
Magnet
Thanks Paul, I’m sure you will appreciate that charging a battery may make a temporary improvement even if the battery is substandard. So I’m still back to ..why not get it checked anyway? - rather than ...’ I could get Halfords to check it if there are more codes come up...’. Anyway! ..... Kind regards, Gareth.
