Will93 Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Hoping someone can help me out. I need to get a second hand hub/bearing carrier for my 2005 3.2 a3 n/s front. But I can't seem to find any that have come from a 3.2 quattro, loads from other models and engine sizes. Just wondering if anyone knows what models/engines use the same parts so I can look for them. Thanks in advance
Magnet Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Hello William, Thanks for being in touch. I wonder if you would be kind enough to fill in the story of why secondhand. Kind regards, Gareth.
Will93 Posted November 20, 2020 Author Posted November 20, 2020 It could also be an aftermarket one. I need the bearing carrier/steering knuckle as well as the hub. It's just that the garage can only get the genuine part for £400. The part where it connects to the steering link is bent. They can't tell a part number from the one I've got as its rusted
Magnet Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Hello William, So is there a problem finding a quality aftermarket one without the part number? Kind regards, Gareth. You could try TPS and ask them if they could send you a photo of the drawing to make sure you are enquiring about the correct part.
cliffcoggin Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Try a car recycler, the modern term for a car breaker. There are many online.
Will93 Posted November 20, 2020 Author Posted November 20, 2020 I'm going to a breakers tomorrow. I guess my question is Do all A3 8P1 models share the same hub/bearing carrier/steering knuckle? If they do then I don't have to search for one specifically from a 3.2 quattro a3. Hope that makes sense.
Magnet Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Makes more sense to first sit at home and give TPS a ring William - don’t forget to ask for a copy of the drawing. Kind regards, Gareth.
