Automatic Audi - Won't release key !!

My Audi unfortunatley won't release my key. The car is an automatic and as soon as I move it into park the button doesn't pop back out and then the key won't release. I have had the centre console in pieces to check for coins, the stick does appear to go as far forward as possible. I have been told the gear cable needs adjusting but am yet to find out how this is possibe.  Any advice would be mucg appreciated.

put you foot  on  brake pedal    and  hand brake on    and  have  her in park  to
