Hello all

I recently bought a C7 with a 3.0 TDI 204hp quattro with an S-Tronic gearbox.
After a month of ownership the gearbox is now acting wierd.

Shifting into 6th and 7th can sometime be rough but worst at half throttle.
Putting the pedal about 40-50% down in 4th gear and manual mode will result in the car starting to accelerate for 1 second then stop and suddenly SLAM into gear and continue driving.
Gearbox is perfectly fine at full throttle and shifts well. When only feathering the throttle i feel 6th gear to be the worst of them all.

Also it really likes to rocket forward when coming to at stop when letting off on the brakes just a little to get a nice and smooth stop.

The car is giving me no fault codes what so ever and it's getting worse over time.
it's my first Automatic car and i usually fix my own car, but never worked on a automatic before.

Any help or comment is much appreciated

In the first video you can see that the rev counter is going up and down around 5th gear and slamming into 6th at the very end
In the second video the car also slam into 4th gear.
both videos are at 40-50% constant throttle, only letting of at the end.

Hello Martin,

Many thanks for being in touch with the forum, and sorry to hear of your issues.
If this were mine, I would be tempted to opt for the gearbox oil to be change first to see if this eases or eliminates the issues.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi Gareth

I Forgot to mension but i already changed the oil and the problem is still there unfortunatly.

Let me know if i need to try something that makes it easier to diagnose.
I also have a Ross-tech VCDS tester that i can use.

Many thanks Martin,

Apologies- didn’t know you had been there tried that.
Re-flashing/ programming at a specialist at the same time?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

I haven't got the gearbox reprogrammed. Can you tell me more about this?

I have done the adaptation and calibration via VCDS, but not after i changed the oil. I might give that a go again later today.

Martin.

Update on the Adaptation and calibration.

Did every calibration that i could think of in the menu.
The car now doesnt ramp forward coming to a stop when it's warmed up.

the Jerky shifting went away for about 2-5 km and came back again. i feel a noticeable difference but the problem still persists

Also, here is a video of the car at full throttle
The shifts are actually more noticeable when driving slow than at WOT..

Hello Martin, and apologies for the delay in coming back on this.
It seems that you have now done way more than than the average DIYer would be capable of, and although you have improved the situation, then all is not as well as it should be.

Personally, I now think it’s time to hand this problem over to the experienced automatic gearbox specialists who should have the necessary knowledge to advise you how to move forward with this.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hello Niko,

I would suggests sending a PM to the original poster, since he hasn’t been on here for over 18 months.
Perhaps you could let us know how you get on.

For anyone visiting this post in the future:

After getting the clutch replaced, the problem was still there. Ended up speaking with some Audi guru that told me he Could hear that the flywheel was bad.
it had a very distant rattling noise. It was easiest to hear it when standing by the front Doors, hood closed
