dws7124 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Hi. I’m due to collect my 45tfsi vorsprung model in 4 weeks after waiting 5 months. I know that the steering wheel on the Vorsprung models are round rather than flat bottomed but is this because it has a heated steering wheel? Would love to know if any one out there with a Vorsprung specced car could confirm. Thanks
Magnet Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Hello David, The wait is nearly over then. Flat bottomed steering wheels and - because heated? I really wouldn’t think so. Just as an aside, and to prove there is very little which is revolutionary in the vehicle manufacturing industry:- The humble Allegro was introduced with a flat bottomed wheel when it was first launched during my I-had-hair-then period. They called it ‘Quartic’ and it was so maligned (particularly by the Police who used this model as Panda cars) that they quickly discontinued it. Now Audi marketing have turned it into a so called trendy must-have! Good isn’t it? Interestingly, Quartic wheel Allegros now command a premium. Kind regards, Gareth.
Chris 747 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 If I remember correctly, the Austin Allegro's steering wheel was basically a rounded square - flat at bottom & top - no wonder the police, or anyone else, felt it awkward and uncomfortable / clumsy to use!!! 🙃
