Steering wheel controls not working

Hello hope everyone's well,

Recently the controls on my steering wheel have completely stop working including the horn, But the indicators still work. I've put the diagnostic machine on which came up with a message of "communication problem steering wheel" 

Could this be the actual steering wheel that needs replacing or wiring centre (connectors) inside the steering column? Has anyone else experienced this and is this a common fault?

Any advise would be much appreciated

It could be the steering wheel controls which come as a complete unit. Might be worth buying a second hand one on eBay to see if that resolves it

Hi, 

did anyone find an answer to this issue, I am looking to sell my wife’s car and the steering wheel controls are not working, so looking for a quick fix, if possible.  Tia😀
