Hi all, really hoping someone can help me please. Whilst driving home a couple of weeks ago I had to stop suddenly when someone pulled out in front of me and when I went to start off again my clutch pedal did not return. It remained flat to the floor. I asked my local garage to recover my car and was shocked when they turned up and the mechanic drove it away. The car had no clutch and it sounded horrific when he was trying to get it going. I thought I’d need a new gear box the way he drove it off. The garage then undertook, with no consultation, nearly £1600 worth of repairs. I have limited knowledge of mechanics but this seems excessive to me. The repairs consisted of labour 8.5 hours, oil, clutch master cylinder, clutch kit, dual mass fly wheel and starter motor. My car had been running perfectly before the clutch pedal went with no signs of a fault e.g. oil leak or driving any differently. I strongly believe the car sustained further damage as a result of the way it was recovered. I would be grateful for your thoughts regarding the amount of work undertaken as I am currently disputing it with the garage. Thanks in advance. Sian.
