Leemac Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Hi there im new to this forum and wondered if anyone can advise me on an issue with my audi a6 avant. I've had the car a couple of months and no issues but after a few hours driving the other day it came up with an Amber warning gearbox malfunction and said I could continue driving. After a few miles the warning disappeared then the morning after it re appeared and went after a few miles driving. Ive just returned from holiday and since then it appears evertime I start the car and goes after a few miles. Is there a simple fix for this issue maybe it needs more oil in the gearbox or a possible gearbox service or is it going to be a big job? I was given 12 months rac warranty with the car when I purchased it so maybe that will cover any work thats required. Thank you in advance.
Steve Q Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 It's definitely worth seeing when the gearbox was last serviced and getting it done as a matter of course. She should also get a diagnostic check to see what fault codes flag up. By all means contact the warranty company but more often than not they're not worth the paper they're written on I'm afraid.
Leemac Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 Thanks for your reply on here Steve i will get the paperwork out and see what I can see. I didnt see anything when looking earlier but it might have been done as part of a service so ill look at the service records and see if uts been done then. It seems to say on forums ive seen that its every 40k does that seem about right?
Steve Q Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 40k sounds about right. Itll be tagged onto a normal service sheet, further down below the usual service. If that makes sense.
