Hi guys, I've recently brought an A6 off of my brother in law and it has the mmi leads installed. There is an iPod connection then a USB with a switch ( see image) the iPod connection works fine but the usb will not recognise my phone when connected with phone manufacturers charging lead, am I missing something ?

That's not a standard cable.

I suspect that a USB stick with mp3s would play.

If your phone is android then you may need to set it up to allow data transfer over USB.

Thanks for the reply, so if I buy a genuine lead I should be okay then ? The phone is set up okay so that would confirm the lead is the issue.

It should be - but you may need to set the phone up to allow file transfer.

A USB AMI cable is pretty cheap on e bay or amazon.

So I definitely need the original Audi leads but I have 2 more questions, how do I find out which version MMI it is and how do I install them, they seem to be connected above the glove box.

Have look here to work out what you have

https://upgrademyaudi.net/tutorials/how-to-check-what-mmi-do-i-have-mmi-2g-3g-3g-types-of-audi-navigation-systems/

The connectors should be the same (they are called AMI)

Once you know what you have then Google is your friend 👍
