Hello,

I have recently bought an audi A3 8P, the ABS light came on shortly after my warranty ran out. I scanned the codes and they came up with 016352 and 01130 on VCDS.

After doing dome research I checked my fuses and performed a load test on the harness at the ABS unit connector. I did this by using a multimeter measuring voltage at the two power terminals, as I measured I had somebody else shake the harness as I have heard this is an issue. I did not test any of the many other wires going to the unit.

After deciding the issue was the module itself I spent £260 getting it sent to ECU testing who said they found a fault with the module. I reinstalled it and the car was fine for around 400 miles before the warning came back again. I do believe whatever they did was required as the car ow goes a lot further before the light comes on. As soon as I turn the ignition off it goes away again.

One thing I have noticed is in the engine fuse box, fuse F4 is a 20 amp fuse on my car and is supposed to be a 30 amp fuse according to the manual. However the fuse hasn't blown so I dont see how this can be an issue.

Here is my VCDS script,

2 Faults Found:

16352 - Control Module - Electrical Error
            014 - Defective - Intermittent
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00101110

                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2021.08.02
                    Time: 16:25:33

01130 - ABS Operation
            008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00101000
                    Fault Priority: 1
                    Fault Frequency: 3

             Freeze Frame:
                    Count: 4096

                    Count: 256

Under Instruments I have another fault fault code. I am unsure if this code is in some way linked to my ABS issue,

00003 - Control Module
            014 - Defective
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 01101110
                    Fault Priority: 1
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 255
                    Mileage: 145800 km
                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2020.01.12
                    Time: 03:39:33

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Kind Regards

Hi I would clear the last fault and see if it returns but reading the date frequency info would suggest its just the can bus system spitting its dummy out, would suggest fitting the right fuse rating for that station as the can gateway would in theory pick up any resistance caused by the wrong fuse rating.

Hi Steve,

I have already reset all dtc’s In VCDS and the fault has come back multiple times, I appreciate the advice and will swap out the fuse to see if it changes anything.

Hey I just had 09 a3 replaced under recall.

If faults 01130: ABS Operation – Implausible Signal with 125 shown in the 4th line of the Expanded ambient conditions and/or 16352: Control Module Faulty with 96 shown in the 4th line of the Expanded ambient conditions are stored in the ABS Control Module (address word 0003), the ABS module will require replacement.
