Loving the interior 😍

When I was a kid, all the best cars had red interiors. We still have a 1.9 205GTI with a half red interior. My first car was a VW Scirocco and I replaced the interior with red and black

Cars had more colour in general back in the 70s. Compared to all this dreary silver, grey, black, white etc. I appreciate my Audi is grey lol but non the less I'd like to see more colour on the road 🙂

Back from holidays and the car finally has a clutch! Straight back to work so all I did was to replace the last bits of trim.

So we have a before

And an After

I'm pretty happy with the result. Next job has to be puddle and footwell lights. I'm always amazed at the options people choose, I've got electric lumbar support, the cool box and iPod adaptor in the glove box but no footwell or puddle lights!

Fantastic job Thomas! All your hard work will make it worthwhile. Good to see a B7 Cab being kept on the road. They are such a pleasure to drive and look fantastic when cleaned. Good job on the roof BTW, I'm lazy and have a pro do mine every 12 months or so. Something you need to keep on top of. Keep up the good work and post some pics when completed. 👍

Cheers Paul  & Steve, I’ve been enjoying it (and the tiny running cost) all week. It was a quiet day today so I had time to give it a decent clean. Wash and dry followed by clay bar.

I’m not intending to get rid of them before the winter, I’m really doing a winter prep. You can see the bonded tar on the lower trim. Tardis does the job.

Next up was a polish. I wasn’t going for a full correction, simply a polish before applying Gtechniq Exo. This is a shot before the Exo but after the polish with the rotary.

So I've had my first breakdown, well sort of! Went to the shop and halfway through the journey, I had a loss of power and some vibration. Got it home and said Bugger. I borrowed a scan tool from a mate and discovered a misfire on cylinder 2. Quick hop to the dealer and picked up a set of plugs and a coil pack. Interestingly, the coil pack would have been €100 from a motor factors but was only €53 from the dealer.

Glad it’s all sorted and hopefully no more problems Tommy.
Mine’s in next week to replace the front two engine mounts that are leaking badly.
My mate who has his own garage is doing the job as Audi had quoted £786!

The parts are only £300.
That’s nearly £500 in labour.
That’s an Audi dealer for you.
Rather give an old pal the money, and much less of it too!

I’m no mechanic but I’m handy with a spanner. I would do most bits myself as I quite enjoy it and it’s vastly satisfying

Cleaned myself. I use G101 and stiff brush to clean most of the dirt and then wipe with a microfibre. It's not finished yet but it's coming along. I may eventually install a steering wheel with controls and I've read that B7's are prewired for it. Can anyone confirm this? I did order a set of puddle lights for it. I'll post some pics of the install when I get them.

Dunno about steering wheel.
But I wanted to install puddle lights too but was told there was no wiring or pre-cut holes for the lights as it wasn’t an option when my car was made/purchased.

Seems like ages since I've been here. I'm looking for some pictures of the lower front bumper on other peoples cars. I'm obviously missing some trim which I'd like to find. See below pics of driver and passenger side. Could;d anyone show me a pic of theirs please?

Yes Tommy. You appear to be missing little flat black panels that hide whatever is behind the vents.

Epic job on the bodywork 😃👍 I always think silver is one of the most difficult colours to make look shiny - you've certainly managed that!

Quick question - did you throw out the old faux-aluminium trim? If not, what sort of condition was the driver's door trim in (mine's a bit scratched)?
