Elaine Brennan Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Hi .. Can anyone shed some light on this issue on my 2017 Q5? Only 38k on the clock.. Has been back to dealer as we only purchased it in June 2021, and was with Audi who changed fuel pump, fuel filters and tested injectors which were all fine. He paid then approx £1500 and problem still there. Then Audi said he needed to replace full fuel system costing up to £4000! Dealer took Q5 from Audi who didn’t really know if that replacement would fix problem and sent Q5 to Diesel engine expert. He replaced valves on engine and all seemed good. However after first long drive, message reappeared. Q5 in limp mode again. Pulled over and restarted. Message gone. Anyone know what is possibly going on? I did notice when we purchased Q5 air con was not working properly and now heat not working in drivers end although working elsewhere in Q5.. sorry for long post but at wits end.. Can anyone help?
Magnet Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Hello Elaine, Thanks for being in touch with the forum, and sorry to hear of your issue. Apologies that this is what it is, and is pessimistic, but regrettably, I think it’s highly unlikely that anyone on here would be able to pinpoint the fundamental problem with the vehicle (with no access to it) when the combined technical experience at Audi (dealership?) and a diesel specialist have failed. Sorry, I don’t want that to be dismissive, but constructive, and if it were mine, I would be concentrating my mind on taking legal advice (CAB) to reject the vehicle as unfit for purpose - given that you have allowed the seller plenty of opportunity to rectify the problem - and he has failed (not for the want of trying!) I’m not sure what the consumer law is in NI, but there will be a time limit on the rejection, so there might be some urgency to gather the information you would need to go forward along this route. I really don’t see it’s right that you should be worrying yourself about its cause. Its final resolution? Yes. Perhaps you could let the forum know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth. 1
Elaine Brennan Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Hi Gareth.. Thank you for your reply.. Q5 back with dealer and he’s given us another Q5 to drive in the meantime. I’ve no doubt that the dealer will see us right as he has already mentioned a refund in earlier conversations. Problem with refund though is that the price of Q5s have risen so much, so doubtful if we’re prepared to spend any more money to purchase one with even higher mileage than the one we had. I was just curious to know if anyone on here had the same issue as we are having rather than a definite solution. But thank you for taking the time to reply
Stevebramwell Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 I’ve just had the same thing happen to me. Don’t think it’s a fuel problem as the engine runs fine just in limp mode. Think it may be electrical??? Switch the engine off and back on again and all is well. It happen once two weeks again and today it’s happened 3 times. I asked Audi to check for faults (£140) when it was in for a service. They said there were no faults recorded on the car and to be fair didn’t charge me for checking. My Audi is a Q5 2019. See attached
Justme Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Hi Steve, have you been able to resolve the Limp mode issue. From the picture you posted, I have exactly the same.
Mr_S49 Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Hi, I also have a 2019 Q5. What did you find was the issue in the end? I'm experiencing the same symptoms over the past few days and hoping it was something simple and inexpensive! Fingers crossed!
Mr_S49 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I had my car inspected by my local Audi specialist garage, the drive system fault errors were related to a turbo under boost issue. Unfortunately the garage were unable to recreate the fault but recommended to change the MAP sensor as that was the first error appearing. 100% solved the problem. My car is a 2019 Q5 2.0 40 TDI Sport. 1
Mr_S49 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 When the message drive system fault happened the car did not accelerate normally and only built up speed very slowly. 1
