Ray6 Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Hi all hope everyone keeping well! my A6 1.8 TFSI’s mpg output doesn’t seem that great compared to what I was expecting… I’m averaging around 29mpg per tank full… driving is a mix of urban local roads and short 10 mins a day on the a13. I drive the car sensibly also rarely putting the foot down other than a once in a while, just wondering if I’m being silly expecting higher MPG as per the expected guidelines (38 mpg urban and 49 mpg extra urban). Unsure how much difference it makes but I’ve only been using premium e5 petrol in the car also. any advice or comments welcomed. Thanks guys
beemerboy9 Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 The WLTP figure for the 1.8TFSi on heavy Urban running is 27.7 mpg with an overall consumption of 39.2 mpg. What you're getting does not sound unreasonable. I would not be bothering with E5 in your car.
Steve Q Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 When I worked in the motor trade wed tell customers to take 10mpg off the manufacturer figures to get a more accurate/true figure

Thanks for this makes sense glad to know it’s producing mpg as expected. any particular reason with not going with e5? I get it’s not one of the higher end models etc but useful to know
beemerboy9 Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 If you can afford to pay the premium for that sort of urban usage then go for it. I use premium diesel in my Audi TDi because of the dire warnings I received if I did not use it. I looked at the fuel consumption my my diesel today. Urban running in 30 mph limits to pick up my mother - average 20 mpg. Add a bit of steady 40 mph running on the North Circular - increases to an average of 30 mpg. Add a run up the A40, M25 and M4 - increases to an average of 42 mpg.
