gazjones Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Hi my Gareth ive just imported my brothers TT from South Africa but im really struggling to get the certificate of conformity to register the vehicle with the dvla. Ive tried contacting audi but i seem to be given the run around and back log excuses. so im hoping anyone can give me a faster solution please
Magnet Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Hello Namesake from the Homeland. I feel for you, and I fear that the ‘faster solution’ you seek is going to be an ask too far. I take it you have the NOVA document, and that you have an original SA registration certificate that specifies the vehicle’s details and obviuosly dates it. If DVLA genuinely want a Cert. of Conformity against this particular vehicle ( as opposed to the model year build) then I think you are going to have to stick with your pressure on Audi U.K. and /or get your brother to do the same with the Audi representation in SA. DVLA appear to be in operating difficulties, and I ask if I can be excused for believing that the current modus operandi is to keep putting the pressure back on the applicant, so that their case resolution time is judged by ‘we are waiting for the applicant’. Urgency:- This is unfortunately real time experience, but with another hat on, I deal with them for some classic cars issues. Current case has now exceeded 12 months and is still awaiting solution! We live in hope. Let us know how things go Gareth. Kind regards, Gareth.
Steve Q Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 I agree with Gareth on this one. It might be worth you contacting Audi customer services as you may find they'll need to put you in contact with someone at Audi in Germany. Just out of curiosity, how much was it to have it shipped from south Africa? And how long did it take for the car to arrive? And who did your brother use? If you don't mind me asking?
gazjones Posted January 8, 2022 Author Posted January 8, 2022 Hi Steve Q im already talking to audi germany & uk its just getting a confirmation and timeframe from them if they’ll send it or not. it took about 3-4 months (covid port issues) to get to the uk, i think it was around 2grand including getting from the port to home. The company we used was freight factory
Steve Q Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 In that case you're doing everything you can. My other recommendation is to speak to a garage this specialises in the inport of American or japanese cars as I suspect they'll know the process and who to contact. Thank you 🙂 1
