Recently got myself an A3.

All good.

But get a strange noise when accelerating at 60mph.....

Nothing at all up until then but as soon as you accelerate past 60mph it sounds like driving over small cats eyes, as soon as you back off the accererator no noise at all. Back on and there it is... Needed 2 front tyres and still there. No blips when accelerating and pulls ok....

Anyone any ideas????

I am presuming your A3 is a manual

Just to gather some info, when your A3 hits the speed where the noise happens the engine will be at a certain revs e.g. 3000 rpm, if you keep the car in a lower gear but rev the engine to the same speed does the noise happen?

Hi.

Yes it's a manual petrol

If it's in 6th and drop to 5th or 4th noise still there.

hi

yes its a manual petrol and done about 39000 miles.

its at about 2500/3000 revs.

i can rev car on driveway upto those revs and nothing, same

when driving at 65mph. take out of gear and press accelerator and no noise.

but accelerate when in gear and there it is,

drop below 55/60 and nothing
