56Doc Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Hi folks, Do the LED headlights give a better beam pattern/brighter/better than HID. Just wondering if it’s worth getting them retro-fitted. cheers Dave
Steve Q Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Usually led lights are more efficient. It won't be cheap to change them though as youll need the modules a d possibly the wiring a d then it all to be coded.
56Doc Posted January 22, 2022 Author Posted January 22, 2022 Ok, it seems it’s worth asking at least then. cheers Dave
Jobbo Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) I see you have a 2015 Allroad - I don't think the lights changed but I can make a direct comparison between the standard xenons and the LEDs. I had a 2016 Allroad from new as a lease car (almost no options) and now have a 2018 model Allroad Sport with the standard LED lights. I preferred the standard xenon lights to the LEDs; the LEDs are very directional and have quite a sharp cut-off, so they don't seem to light as far up the road on dipped beam and they don't show you what's low down to the side of the car. If I had my choice again I'd be quite happy with the standard headlights or would want to option the matrix LEDs. Basically I think you could spend quite a bit of money to upgrade and find they're not actually better. Edited January 25, 2022 by Jobbo
