Ian R Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Hi all, I really would appreciate it if someone could help with this issue. My Audi A3 8p7 2009 is not turning over and the ESP and engine management lights have both come on, not withstanding already mentioned the steering wheel is very heavy to now turn and all the fault codes seem to be pointing to the throttle body but having recently changed the air flow meter I am reluctant to spend any more money. Can someone advise me if, it be could be another underlying issues, see attached fault codes.

If I’m reading this correctly, then you are saying that the engine is not turning over (cranking) when you attempt to start it. If so, then this is of course typical of battery issues i.e. flat/unserviceable battery. Have you had the battery tested? If not, then this obviously has to be the first port of call. If the battery proves to be unserviceable, then this would also account for spurious warning lights, and it is pointless carrying out any diagnostics unless you do so with a serviceable battery. Replacement batteries can of course be bought locally, but personally, I only buy 5 year warranty grade Varta/Bosch from specialist online suppliers such as Tayna, Battery Megastore etc. ( no connection ) where you can buy quality at very competitive prices. Cheers Gareth, Car is cranking and lights are working but it's currently in limp mode and it's informing me there is an ECP fault check owner's manual. I had someone from look at it and the fault codes which came up, related to the throttle body?

That means a professional deep discharge test, not a domestic multimeter test which does not put enough load on the battery to give meaningful results.

Cheers Cliff, Will look into this, can you recommend anyone or a service that I can call out as car is currently in limp mode and cuts out when I tried to drive it to garage?
