claireC90 Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Hey, So my Audi SQ5 2017 with less than 50k miles on the clock, is in with Audi at the moment for a diagnostics. After 3 weeks, they have come back to say it looks like the Cam follower has come out and damaged the cam shaft. To investigate further, it will cost £780 to strip the left hand side down to see full extent of the damage and I could be looking at around £4500-£5000 for parts and labour to fix. Has anyone had the issue before??? They told me the reason it has taken 3 weeks to diagnose, is because they have never come across the issue before?!?!?! As I don't have FSH with Audi Dealership, they cant help as it is out of Manufactures warranty. The car has FSH with an Audi Specialist garage. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated at this point. Thanks CC
Steve Q Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 The fact it hasn't got FSH with Audi shouldn't matter as the law dictates you can take your car to any VAT registered garage and as long as they've used genuine Audi parts your warranty would still stand. This came about as main dealers were locking customers in to servicing agreements which weren't best for the customer. I appreciate it is out if warranty but I'd still speak to Audi customer services as the component should not have failed at 50k miles. You could aldo register a claim with the motoring ombudsman. It would also be wise to get a quote from the Audi specialist you have it serviced with regularly to see what they quote.
