Hi - Recently bought a used A4 Avant (2016/B9) and it didn't come with a handbook, wallet or service record book.

I keep checking eBay for handbooks but they are over £20, anyone know where I can get a better price?

Also should there be a service record 'book' to get stamps? I have FSH printed on A4 from Audi but I think a book would be nicer.

Thanks!

Hello Andrew,

As far as I’m aware, your 2016 model would not have had a Service Book, - all service records would/should have been logged on the Audi database - which you say you have printed record of.
Wallet with handbook etc?  It’s worth checking with the seller to see if it might still be with them. I guess the car is too old to have been retailed at a main dealer, so unlikely you can ‘claim’ this from them.

£20+ off eBay sounds reasonable enough to me - now just over a couple of gallons of fuel - and a very minor additional outlay in terms of the anticipated price paid to buy the car.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hello Gareth,

If I understood correctly, A4 2016 doesn’t have a service book anymore, right?

How can I check if the car has FSH or not?

Thank you

Bruno

Welcome Bruno, and thanks for joining.
Are you considering buying an a 2016 A4 then?
If so, and you want to check on its service history, then simply visit ( not phoning or e-mailing)your nearest main dealer and enquire there. Arm yourself with the VIN ( available from the seller) in case needed.
Have you checked the DVLA Vehicle Check to establish when the last V5 was issued . Can be an indicator of short term ownership by the previous keeper - potentially not good.  Also have you checked the on-line MOT history?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks Gareth!

Yes, I am considering to buy an another Audi to be honest... I had a TT and I'm looking for a 5 doors now.

I went to Audi dealer as you suggested and they provided the service history. They were very attentive and gave me the information I needed. Also, I checked the information in the DVLA website and MOT history.

It was an A4 avant 2016 TDI ultra, but I thought the price was a little high for the condition and mileage of the car. Unfortunately it wasn't this time... but I'm still looking.

What the Audi dealer informed me is that cars after 2016 do not have the service book with stamps. It's an optional item nowadays. All records are recorded online in the Audi database.

Here's a tip for everyone, if you're looking for a car after 2016, go to the Audi dealer and ask for the service history.

Thank you Gareth

Many thanks Bruno,

Good tip, which I think most regulars on here are already aware of.
Glad you were able to take advantage of the basic check information available via. DVLA and MOT history you were advised to carryout.

In my book, these are always the first pieces of homework to do before even contacting the seller.

Please let us know if you find anything else of interest, and if we can help you, we will.

Kind regards,

Gareth.
