Mike Audi Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Hey. I was driving my car (manual gear box) today and after going into 3rd gear I couldn't then change to any other gear. Car is parked up now waiting to be looked at by a garage tomorrow but wondered if anyone else has had this issue and what was the fix for it. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Hi sounds like the clutch might have failed often as not the release bearing wears through the fingers on the pressure plate leaving insufficient clearance for the clutch to disengage from the flywheel. Steve.
Magnet Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Hello Michael, Can you select some/all of the gears when the engine is switched off? Kind regards, Gareth.

Steve. Hi Steve. Sorry to sound stupid but I'm not a car person. Does it sound like i need a new clutch?
gsmdo Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 I don't own an A3, but it sounds like you might have a gear lever linkage of some sort. Is the gear lever stuck in one position, or can you stir it about like a pudding?
Magnet Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 Hello Michael, It’s always going to be difficult to diagnose the exact issue without inspecting the vehicle - which your garage is going to do today - and it could be any of the suggestions already made. Would you be kind enough to come back to us and update us of the outcome? Kind regards, Gareth.
